This map was inspired by Hang 'Em High, Lockout, elements of the legendary map Imminent from CE 1.5, Quake, Unreal Tournament, and just about anything you can call old school!
Final Frontier is a summary of almost everything I enjoy in old school level design.
1. An abstract setting that makes no literal sense.
2. No hand-holding.
This map's dangerous! With few areas that feel safe, dirty teleporter placements, frustrating top-heavy positions, fast paced game play, fast spawning weapons, fast movement options, sweaty trick jumps, spawn killing, no railings, and a f*kin ladder!... you're in for some intense games.
In the past my designs have often been room-based in nature with very controlled engagements but I've come to enjoy this more open approach to design where players can expect increasing depth to the way they play as they learn the map. I think this is a design that really rewards spatial awareness but punishes a lack of it!
If you have any issues with the map they probably wont be addressed but I appreciate anyone who checks it out all the same.
