Map Description

   " all we know about this place is that they send their young to this place to go through trials for their gods. It is said that those who are deemed worthy to leave will become leaders to their people. And the others....well, they are destined to keep roaming the labyrinths for the rest of their lives. Personally, I don't believe any of it!"
   
   Hey guys, this is Endless Shore. A 4v4 map that supports slayer and strongholds. It's an asymmetrical design that is built to promote movement through its play spaces and with an emphasis on art that is not only immersive but to draw you into its play spaces.
   
   This maps goal was simply to make something different than I usually make. I was beginning to make maps that I felt are to porous and round. So I began by trying to create interesting lines of sight from four power positions on my map. And by forcing players to drop down to the lowest points of the map by designing the power positions to either have lines of sights that would be impossible to watch all angles or by lanes that lead to their flanks. Another goal was to have the map flow in such a way that naturally brings players into each other's lines of sights.
   
   Additionally, the art is very special to me. I created my own art work and lore for the map. I worked hard to make the play areas unique but believable that this is a real place in a universe that started with StormVeil. Interestingly, I found that repeating certain elements in the maps art was the trick to making the map feel cohesive, even with all of the art to differentiate the play spaces. You can see this most easily with the god statues placed around the map and with the similar patterns in the way I used the sangeilli pillars. Also, the way I built the map had a function to also make the map feel a lot bigger than it actually was. I did my best to create lanes that seemed to open up to giant structures but also frame the play areas in a way that promoted player orientation. The art almost pulls the players to move into the conflict. I set out to make a map fee like it can be concept art. Finally the lore was created to have reasons for the structures and art. I didn't just want to make a map look cool but to have purpose and impact in the universe I'm creating. Storm Veil is in the same universe and shows the aliens side of being an outcast and hiding from the main population. While, Endless Shore is laid in tradition of the race I am realizing. They send their young to the endless shore as an honor but only a fraction are deemed worthy to be able to rejoin their race as leaders. The rest will wander the endless trials until death. Many enter but a few leave. Only the strong become leaders to their people and this is only one of many challenges that they must endure to achieve honor.
   
   Anyways I hope you guys enjoy my map. I really push all of you to attempt to start making maps with your own art work and lore. I truly feel this is the next step for the forging community and something I am excited to see how others will do in their way. We are full of so many talented members so let's show the rest of the halo community how talented we are.
