Map Description

1. 

   "The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
   While hammers fell like ringing bells,
   In places deep, where dark things sleep,
   In hollow halls beneath the fells."
   
   Hey guys, this is my new map DURIN'S ARENA and it's my first entry for the Hammerfall grifballcourt contest. This arena is located in the dark depths of Khazad-Dûm and was created by Durin ll, a huge fan of grifball. Dwarves are great blacksmiths and stoneworkers and very well known for their digging and forging, so swinging hammers is like second nature to them. These dwarves crafted this hall with the finest marble and gold and there is still some Mithril left in the rocks.
   
   Legend says that in the third age under the reign of Durin Vl, the last game of grifball was so epic, it was the actual reason of the awakening of the Balrog. After the Balrog killed Durin Vl and later his son Nain, the dwarves fled and abandoned Khazad-Dûm but the Balrog, now known as Durin's Bane, remained.
   
   If you want to read more I suggest reading Tolkien's Silmarillion where he goes more in depth about some great games, the design of the arena and the rules of the game.
   
   "The world is grey, the mountains old,
   The forge's fire is ashen-cold,
   No harp is wrung, no hammer falls,
   The darkness dwells in Durin's halls,
   The shadow lies upon his tomb,
   In Moria, in Khazad-Dûm,
   But still the sunken stars appear,
   In dark and windless Mirrormere,
   There lies his crown in water deep,
   Till Durin wakes again from sleep."
