Howdy stranger and welcome to DRY HOLLOW, a small ghost town located in the Bighorn Canyon, which is also known as Viento Rojo, one of the final frontiers in the American Southwest. It's surrounded by the Ragged Peaks mountainrange to the west and the Copper Dunes to the east. Up north you can find the towns of Shallow Reach and Whitelanding which are a 3 and 4 day ride. To the south is the infamous 'Buzzard's Trail'. An old, dangerous path through Apache territory, straight into Mexico.
The town was originally founded by settlers and golddiggers right after the civil war in 1866 and it attracted lots of pioneers and trailblazers but also gamblers, smugglers, outlaws and thieves. There were many gang hideouts in this canyon so bounty killers were always around in this unlawful place full of greed, pride and vengeance. Due to fierce clashes with local tribes, gangs, diseases and the neverending search for a good water source it was abandoned in 1881 but the train kept crossing the canyon till 1887.
In one of the graves behind the church lies Robert 'Buckshot Bob' Edwards, the notorious trainrobber and gunslinger from Missouri. His friend and posse member Henry Smith shot him in the head to collect the $500 bounty. 3 months later he was shot and killed in California by a local.
Well that was a dumb litle story for my new aesthetic map that again, serves no purpose at all. I'm a huge fan of movies set in the old west and I saw a lot of them but I especially love the old classic spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson etc. I was introduced to these old pictures when I was 13 or so by my music teacher and later by my dad. Awesome movie making by Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone is a legend in my book. Plus I always enjoyed the fact these movies were shot in the countries I used to go on holiday as a kid; Spain and Italy.
This theme was a really old idea that was on my list for a long time and at first I only wanted to build the trainstation but I had some pieces left so I started on the church and so on. It is surprisingly fun to make a building and then tearing it apart. Thanks to @CaptainDireWolf and @ExTerrestr1al for pushing this scripting virgin into the right direction with the tumbleweed.
After forging this I really wanna rewatch some of those movies this year and to be honest, RDR2 can't come soon enough for me.
So fire up the song "Born unto Trouble", take a stroll and let me know what you think.
And remember, always drink upstream from the heard and never ask a barber if you need a haircut.
Catch ya later ramblers.
