Derelict

Infection

Map Description

After playing the first Dead Space and the arrival of Infection, I was inspired to create an infection map with a Dead Space-like feel to it. This was the result.

The map is dark and full of crates and other sorts of cover. There are several main rooms separated by hallways - perfect for ambush by necr- ahem, zombies. The map also features scripted doors that can be opened and closed by interacting with control panels.

One of the main features of the map is a near zero-gravity area in a breached section of the ship's hull. Bodies, crates, and other things will float around in this section.

Also, players have the opportunity to mix it up by cutting off the power to the doors and lights. The reactor in the central room can be destroyed, causing this effect.

Once the reactor is destroyed, the doors will be locked into an open state, and the lights will shut off, flooding parts of the map in darkness. The infected have the advantage of a night-vision effect, so it would be a spot the survivors would benefit from defending. The map is quite dark without lights, making it a different experience once the reactor is destroyed.

Thank you for checking out the map! Hopefully you've been interested enough to try it out! This was my first map I've thought was good enough (and finished enough) to publish - therefore, I would love any advice and reviews (videos are an extra hug).

Also, there's a Halo CE Magnum hidden in this map (as is the tradition in the 343 maps). Try to find it!

    Thanks again!

I love the idea of having essentially a master light switch which can or can't change the gameplay dramatically. I haven't had a chance to play on it yet, but if you haven't already, I would make an air pressurizer room (is that even a thing?) that leads to the breached section. Or just shields... but the doors would be cooler, and would add panic to the survivor if being chased and they need to shut the door in enough time to escape. I would maybe have it as one switch though, so when you open one door to go in, the door out closes, and vice versa.

    Good job!

    Thanks Dino!
The air pressurization doors is a good idea, but I'm scavenging for object count right now. I plan on remaking a few of the sections to reduce object count drastically, so your idea might appear sometime in the future!
