Deadly Harvest

Infection

Map Description

  1. Black Racher
    Hi everyone !

A lot of people here know me due to my feedback when I read a thread or sometimes take the time to go in the forged map of the thread. I made a lot of feedback to help some of you and... I also read one time that I didn't forge anything so when I saw the Hub of the Dead, I saw an opportunity to come back in the Forge with Halo 5 since my Split/Second maps on Halo Reach.

Now I'll present you Deadly Harvest.

So first, I'm sorry if I do some mistakes, I will try to be clear as possible (I'm french, so yes, I will do mistakes =') ).

When I began to think about Deadly Harvest, I wanted to create something different. A lot of maps I saw are built in a classic way : a closed map with different ways, open areas etc.
So here, I created something larger, bigger. It's a very open area with different places : a house, a barn, a corn field, a little house with a very important thing for the gameplay, and everything else around.

I thought about a plan for the house, so I drew its and then made some test to give you more interaction with your environment.

Now it's finished. You can explore the house with a lot of things to camp. Because yes, this map was thought to encourage people to camp.

There some people will say "WTF ? Camp destroy Infection gametype", and I'll answer you "Yep, you're totally right..." but... If you thought it as a component of how this map is played, you can create good things... I guess...

In some maps, people camp and zombies are forced to come from one way... Just one... Here, there are always many different paths to hunt survivors.

You will find different rooms in the house :

First floor : living room, dining room and of course, the kitchen
Second floor : Utility room, restroom, bathroom and 3 bedroom (red, beige and purple).
    Here the second floor :

    HCE Magnum there.

    Yes... Kids have guns too...

So, don't try to jump inside the house... It's useless, you will touch the ceiling. It's to give less possibility to escape to the survivors.

NOTE : TO PATH THROUGH A WINDOW, you need to crouch while you jump !

Oh and... Every room have a door. These door are made of wood pallets. There are 8 wood pallets for each doors inside the house, so 8 melee attacks to destroy a door that will never respawn.

I create this to help survivors to resist the assaults of the zombies, because even if the house is big, each room will be very very close... A zombie can rush at you very easily, so yes, camp is easy in this map, because the zombies are fast and can come from everywhere.

Yes, everywhere, because when I thought that map, I thought about an attic where the zombies could come inside the aeration system of the entire house.

So you can see on pictures that there are hole on the ceiling. It's the aeration between the first and second floor, and inside the ceiling of the second floor. There are one way in each room except the toilet and the utility room.

In the kitchen you have something cool to help survivors. It's a very close place so be careful. If you turn on the gas, you'll have this gas leak which spawn.

By shooting the hotplate (next picture)

The gas will ignite, give to the survivors in the kitchen, a really powerful wall of flame. Be careful, there's still the window behind and an aeration on the ceiling.

Outside you'll find a barn. There you have haystack, a ladder to climb the second floor where there is an Hydra. Hydra is very powerful if you use it outside, but you will become much visible than inside the house, of course.

You'll find another thing in the barn : an underground way. (bottom left of the next picture, hidden in the dark)

This way will bring you inside the cellar of the house. To the cellar there's A LOT OF weapons. You'll find the SAW, Gauss Turret, 2 grenades and an AR. But it's a very close room... You also have an important thing, but I'll talk you about it later.

To go inside the cellar, you also can go behind the house and open the doors. These doors must be open by an interactive panel (invisible). They will be closed automaticaly.

Here you'll find also a jerrican. If you grab it...

You can then light the fire in the chimney.

If you're outside, the smoke can inform you that the chimney is now unusable

Because yes... You also can fall in the chimney to go inside the house.

Outside, you'll find also a little house. Inside of it there's 2 things : a Magnum with more ammo, and... A generator.

A generator for what ? Oh yes... I forgot to say that inside the house, each room has its own lighting that you can turn on or turn off... So yes... This generator has a big pipe.

If a zombie destroy the pipe, he will die, but... Every light will turn off and believe me, if you're inside the house without light, Alpha Zombies will be very dangerous, and you'll have a lot of difficulties to see something.
Here some examples of room in the dark :

Yep, fire is also a good light in the dark !

Fortunately, I'm not a bastard and I give a second chance to survivors to turn on the light ! Every interactive panel disappeared when the generator has been destroyed, but in the cellar, you have a second generator ! Here again, you have to go inside the cellar in the dark to activate the generator 2. Every lights and every panels will respawn.
Here an example of a dark cellar :

    Yes... We can't see sh*t... I know...

NOTE : The generator 2 can't be destroyed by the zombies if the first wasn't before. I want to force survivors to go in that cellar. This is an awesome room !

Unfortunately, it's an infection gametype so zombies need to be dangerous. You can indeed, destroy this second generator and turn off ALL the light forever... (okay, they'll respawn at the start of the new round...)

Now, there are 2 more things you need to know. Outside, you'll find a hidden path, it's my brother who gave me that idea talking to me about the resistance in Halo, farmer who have hidden path to escape. This path bring inside the cellar too, but in the room of the second generator. Be careful !

And the last thing... The corn field. It's not very big but enough to be surrounded by a lot of zombies. Of course... To give you some reason to go there, you'll know that the crashed Pelican is also a rocket launcher's spawn and... There's a Halo 2 BR lost on the corn field... Good luck to find it without being surprised by a horde of zombies !

NOTE : Every interactive panels are usable only by survivors.

Now, I just want to say thank you if you read all of it, and have a good time on Deadly Harvest with your friends ! ;)

EDIT : Here the gametype https://www.halowaypoint.com/fr-fr/...kmarkCount&page=1&gamertag=Grievous32&lc=1036

To those who don't want to download the gametype, be sure to activate the vehicles placed on the map (it will make spawn the warthog and its turret).

This has to be the most interactive infection map I think I have ever seen. I'm actually excited to try and play on this map.

Dude, this map is amazing! So dynamic, those aesthetics, that immersion! Daaamn! It reminds me to TWD season 2 and the upcoming Outlast 2.
It's a pity it's too big for default Infection, but customs should be fun. :D

    Thanks D4rkDeath, fame28 and ArthurBloodshot.

I know it's a little bigger than default infection maps, that's why I create different places. The corn field is really big, it's maybe 1/3 of the map and you run through it really easily. As you have plants everywhere, it's not really "open"... It is cause you have no limit, but your field of view is really narrow. The 2 weapons useful here is the shotgun and the Hydra ('cause you can lock a zombie even if he's behind plants), and of course, sword to close quarter combat.

I really think it's a good map in default infection gametype, it has been thought for this, that's why there's a lot of cover with trees or rocks everywhere outside. To prevent people to camp and shoot everything being in an open area where zombies couldn't go without to be spotted.

Play it, you'll see ! My only fear is if everybody in the survivors team camp outside. But it's like every map... If all the survivors camp in the same place, the first 2 alpha zombies will probably never kill an enemy, it's true in each map with open area or places with one way. That's why here, there's always different ways.

I'm pretty sure with 12 players, it will be good. I place a soft kill zone to restrict survivors movements, for example it's not visible on the screenshots, but you can just move 15 or 20 m behind the house before being outside of the playable zone. It's... A narrow open area =')

EDIT : About TWD Season 2 and Outlast, they were absolutely 2 references to build the map ;)

This map looks epicly swagtastic (good)! The lighting is incredible - especially the natural lighting. The position is well thought out, and the tone looks natural. The use of pallets and the small details like the furniture pieces really make this map look great - you feel like you are in the intended location.
