We weren't ready for the infection.
An urban environment that has just come under the attack of the infected.
Burning buildings, wrecked vehicles, and a downed Pelican, give off a sense of the beginning apocalypse.
I really wanted to bring over a couple of maps from Gears of War, but instead of doing a straight remake, I used inspiration from 2 different Gears maps to build an urban themed Infection map.
This map was a challenge to get just right, to look aesthetically pleasing, as well as functional.
Based on Gears of War 2's maps Day One and Raven Down, I wanted to incorporate the 3-way intersection and crashed Raven of Raven Down, but I wanted the cityscape of Day One.
I built a cinema arcade opposite from each other, like I wanted, then had some fun experimenting with how the rest of the map looked.
The hotel has an automatic door that is "broken". It moves slightly like it is trying to open, but can't.
A lot of buildings have some kind of fire.
The parking garage was originally going to be closed off as a solid building, but it limited the map, so I opened it up.
The arcade is my pride and joy of this map.
Who wouldn't want to drive the Mongoose Racer or play "Whack-A-Grunt"?
(Please don't try to take the Mongooses. They won't go anywhere.)
(Side note: it has come to my attention that the Mongooses and the Warthog on the map do not appear in Infection. The Warthog is outside the environment as scenery, so it is not acquirable. The Mongooses are in the arcade, fused with blocks to simulate a racing game, also undrivable. This does not effect gameplay, just effects the scenery. A minor detail.)
