Map Description

Project Chimera: An ongoing experiment to create the ultimate super soldier with the ability of quick adaptation to any situation. Conducted by off duty Spartans who showed peek interest in the advancements of science and technology, they launched the program ISP (Innovative Spartan Program). With their help, they were able to create Chimera Labs to house such a task...but no one was prepared for what was about to surface.

Chimera Labs is a "Choose your path" linear style infection map that provides the humans with a choice of two very different routes to try and traverse the facility and reach a saferoom on the other side. Both paths provide very different and unique styles of gameplay.
    That's because it does.
Last year (Yes 1 year ago), I created a map called "The Labs" which is (generally speaking) the same map as this one, however there are many differences between the two. The reason I decided to come back to this map and update it is because the scripting in the older version broke so I had to redo all of the scripting as well as redo some of the layout of the map since the breaking of the scripts required me to change the way the map is played. Even though it was a very long process, I'm happy with the result.
Below are complete walkthroughs of the map which include location of hidden weapons, objectives, and overall tips for the map so if you do not want to be spoiled, do not continue down.

Objective: Everyone will spawn in a small room with the infected contained right behind. Someone will need to activate the switch to open the doors allowing you to progress, however, upon doing so, you will also release the infected.
After escaping the room, you will be introduced to the choice of going up or down. Once one path is chosen, the other path cannot be accessed until the next round if chosen.

    Weapons Available:

    2 Assault Rifles
    2 Shotguns
    1 Magnum
    1 Grenade

Going up through Chimera Labs will lead you to the cryo chambers that house test subjects, the piston room that provides much of the power throughout the facility, and the larger testing rooms where you might see some of the test subjects being tested on.

    Phase 1: Cryo Chambers
    [IMG]
    Objective:
As you enter the first phase of the upwards path, you will be greeted with a waypoint saying "INSPECT" Upon further inspection, you will notice that the switch to move on to the next room is broken and missing a power core. You are then allowed to open the door to a storage room and search for the power core to repair the switch. The power core can be located in 1 of 4 places:
    1. Immediately upon entering the room, turn to your right and next to a couple of barrels is one possible location.
    2. In the middle of the room is a shelf and on the top of the shelf is the second possible location.
    3. At the back left corner of the room, the power core can be found lying behind some crates.
    4. At the back right corner of the room, the power core can be found sitting in a crate.
(If you can't find the power core fast enough, a waypoint will appear after 10 seconds of opening up the room.)
Once the power core is retrieved, it will automatically be placed back into its slot and the switch will be interactable allowing you to progress in the map.
    Weapons Available:
    1 Assault Rifle
    1 Shotgun
    1 SMG
    2 Grenades
    Hidden CE Pistol Location:
When you reach the Cryo Chambers, you'll notice one of them is slightly open with cold air spewing out. If you stand in the way of it, it will slowly damage you but hidden inside the chamber is the CE pistol.
Make sure you're quick about grabbing it before the cold kills you!

    Phase 2: The Piston Room
Entering the room, you will be greeted with two waypoints telling you to destroy 2 power cores.
Once destroying both of them, you will be able to activate the next switch allowing you to progress through the map.
    Weapons Available
    1 SMG
    1 Shotgun
    1 Grenade
    Hidden Railgun Location:
Although it isn't very "hidden" per-say, it is out of the way. Once you enter the room, you'll see 4 pistons: 2 moving and 2 stationary.
On one of the stationary pistons, a railgun sits awaiting someone to use it. You will have to jump up to it however.

    Phase 3: Decontamination Chamber
    Objective:
After leaving the piston room, you first must go through a decontamination chamber before entering the testing chambers.
Simply activate the switch available and wait for the decontamination to begin.
On the off chance that not every survivor makes it into the chamber at first, they will have to wait for the decontamination process to be complete.
    Weapons Available:
    1 Shotgun
    1 SMG

    Phase 4: Testing Chambers
    Objective:
After transitioning to the mid section of the testing chambers, you will have to wait for the following shield to raise. Don't let your guard down though because the infected will be able to hop down from the side. After the shield raises, you will be able to continue to the last part of the map.
    Weapons Available:
    1 SAW
    Hidden Scattershot Location:
Immediately after leaving the decontamination chamber, before going on to the gravity slide, avoid it and behind the wall is the scattershot
    [IMG]

Going down through Chimera Labs will lead you to it's subway system which was recently out of order due to a flaw with its train system...(Scripting the moving train broke...rip)

    Phase 1: Subway Station Alpha
    [IMG]

Objective: Upon climbing down the stairs to the Alpha station, there will be a waypoint telling the humans that they need to unlock something. There will be a terminal at the bottom of the stairs that needs to be hacked into to open the gate.
The way a human attempts to override the system is by standing in the boundary (seen above) and wait for the bar above them to fully turn green. While the player stands in the boundary, the humans will need to protect that person.
If the player standing in the boundary dies before the bar turns green, someone will need to take his place to finish the job.
    Weapons Available:
    1 Assault Rifle
    1 Magnum
    1 SMG
    1 Shotgun
    2 Grenades
    Hidden Grenade Launcher Location:
When climbing down the stairs, instead go to the left and there will a side room with the grenade launcher resting on a control panel.

    Phase 2: Underground Subway Door
Objective: When the gate opens, you will be instructed to activate a switch to open a large door to access the rest of the subway. However, as the door is opening, you find out that there is a bar jamming the door stopping it from opening. Simply shoot the bar until it's destroyed to progress.
    Weapons Available:
    1 Assault Rifle

    1 SMG
    1 Grenade
    Hidden Lawgiver Location:
Upon reaching the gate, there will be a stack of cargo crates to your right, if you manage to climb into the top one, a Lawgiver will be resting on a smaller crate.

    Phase 3: Underground Subway Route
Objective: Once you get past the large door, you have a long ways to go before reaching the other side where a switch will be waiting to be pressed to progress forwards.
Be careful as you reach the emergency exit though because the infected can drop on top of you from the pipes.
    Weapons Available:
    1 Assault Rifle
    1 Shotgun
    1 SMG
    2 Grenades
    Hidden SAW Location:
As you run down the subway, you might miss quite a treasure along the way since there is a SAW hiding behind a broken cart up for grabs.

    Phase 4: Emergency Exit Stairwell
Objective: Once the door opens up, you will be introduced to a slightly broken wall that needs to be broken down before progressing.
After breaking through, you will find a fire that has been started blocking your access to the stairs leading to the saferoom.
You need to activate the fire sprinklers by pressing a button and wait for the fire to go out.
Once you get past the fire, there is one final switch to press to open a door before reaching the saferoom.
    Weapons Available:
    1 Assault Rifle
    1 Shotgun
    1 SMG
    4 Grenades

Objective: No matter which path you take, you will end up in the same location. The final phase is a last stand as you lockdown the saferoom.
    Weapons Available:
    1 Shotgun
    1 SMG
    1 Hydra Launcher
    Hidden SPNKR Location:
Depending on where you come from, there will be two hallways that lead to the final saferoom, if you go down the right hallway, there will be a ventilation system running along the ceiling, if you reach the end of it, there is smoke spewing out but if you break the cover, a SPNKR will drop down, very risky to get, but VERY helpful in that last stand.

    10/5,
I feel like I've played this map so many times over the past year that it deserves a review from me. I'm gonna keep it simple because for me it boils down to just one point:

Is is fun to be a zombie on this map.

I'm the guy that pretty much hates infection, and I love this map. "Linear" infection is one way this map will be described, but the term 'linear' does a disservice to the branching paths and varied gameplay experiences to be had in Chimera Labs. I don't mind dying and becoming infected because the experience of being the hunter or the hunted is equally enjoyable.

If you're a fan of infection, or even if you're not, Chimera Labs is a worthy addition to your bookmarks...Amazing map.
  2. Alright, I have been waiting almost A YEAR, to write a review on this map and boy was it worth the wait. This is by far one of the most fun, intuitive and dynamic linear infections in H5 that can consistently deliver a good time to a wide range of players. Each phase changes how the players are involved with the mechanics of the map and while it's not the single most complicated linear infection map ever it gets the job done in a way that makes it stand out in your head.

Comparing this to the very popular "Survive The" series of linear infection maps, Chimera Labs is a no questions asked superior. It is both more diversified and involving than the "Survive The" series and while there are not 100 Chimera Labs maps all you need is this one for a good time.

What this map lacks in isolated aesthetic appeal, it makes up for with rock solid gameplay.

If you are a fan of linear infection or just customs, this map is a must bookmark.
