Chasm began when Karby and myself deleted all the connections from one side to another on a map he had been working on back in H2A. The concept is simple. Two sides with the only way across being to lift, jump or teleport. We feel the result is an incredibly fun CTF map.
The two-way teleporter allows the map to feel like Longest in that you can walk a straight line from your flag to the enemy base. The man-cannons from side to side allow you to quickly attack the opposing side like with the teleporters on Boarding Action. From each side a switch can be shot above the main doors leading to the base that will activate temporary shield doors. These can be used to briefly block off routes and force flag carriers to take a different route.
Part of the reason why I think this map is exciting for CTF is it's incredibly high level of Risk vs Reward. Players can potentially make very fast flag caps although this is only possible by lifting through the open middle of the map. The entire enemy team usually has to be dead at once for this to be possible. The safer flag runs will take significantly longer.
