    Lava filled cavern to test even the best survivors.

    Overview

    Cavern is 8-16 player mini-game forged by myself ScaredHitman086. It is large circular cavern stocked with standard warthogs. At the beginning of a round, the survivors get into the warthogs and drive around the cavern to avoid the Alpha zombie's attacks. One Alpha zombie(deathless) is spawned in the middle of the map at the beginning of a round with no other infected. He is equipped with a plasma caster and plentiful splinter grenades(as well as some plasma grenades). As he eliminates survivors, they become "Swordrunners" and aid in the elimination of humans. These "Swordrunners" are very fast and equipped with an energy sword as well as a frag grenade. The humans have 3 minutes to survive. Please note the S.A.W info below in red

    Map Design
    This map has been a pleasure to forge and exposed many glitches within Halo 5 forge(I will get into that later). Many designs within the map are subject to change.


    (Ex. In the human spawn areas, a timer kill zone eliminates inactive players and forces players to leave spawn and enter the cavern. Some people have commented there is not enough time to leave the kill zone. I will move to fix it if it becomes a constant issue.)

    Driving Surface and Lava

    The map has a smooth curved stone wall for the warthogs to drive on. It has two "levels." Players can move between each level with ease when going at top speed. This allows for effective dodging of grenades and plasma caster shots with some risk.
    The lava is largely created using Forgehub's tutorial. However it required color changes to best replicate lava in this map(this map uses the gloom map effect affecting the representation of colors). The lava sound effect and bubbling water sound really brings the lava alive.
    *And I did not include fire in the lava, otherwise the map FX would have s@#t the bed

    The S.A.W

    The S.A.W, or S@#t A$$ Wreckage, is a sweet surprise for surviving spartans. With approximately 30 seconds left in a round, a "SAW" spawns. It is a SAW combined with a plasma caster. It has devastating effects to spice things up a bit using the new weapon combining "glitch."

    Notes
    This map is in its early stages and needs feedback so it would be much appreciated. Gamemode changes will be made as needed. Lighting can be glitchy, the lightmap is around 108% in forge.


    GLITCHES IN FORGE!!!!!!!
    Not a rant just wanted to point out a few things. Gobo effects produced from lights are not seen from far away. So the "cloud" effect illuminating the lava on this map is only visible up close. Maybe it is just the lightmap being weird but this proved to be very annoying. The lava looks calm and still at a distance. :skull: :evil:
    The lanterns are also weird at times.
    Chromas also become weird looking in custom games if placed in a certain way I don't even know how to explain it.

    I played this in my testing lobby today. I thought it was a fun map. It's quite enjoyable when it actually works. In the 3 rounds we played, it only worked once. What happened was people spawned in the map but were stuck in a black screen for too long. We died by the soft kill because by the time we got out of the black screen, there was only like 2 seconds left in the kill zone.

    Might be a problem with the map rather than connection because in the many other minigames we played, people loaded in just fine. I think what's happening is the game is having trouble loading in all the map's effects. So this is probably a performance issue. There were also a couple frame drops during our game. I suggest toning down the special effects and other aesthetics.

    Thanks for the feedback, I have a couple questions very quickly.
    How many players?
    Another issue with the loading may have to do with people joining midgame. I have experienced what you described in the black screen when people join midgame but thats it.

    The trees drop the frames some :/

    I have kept the FX to less than 30% and the lightmap is 101%. So I can attempt to lower it to avoid that problem. Kill areas cant be scripted so that's really the only way I can do it. I have only experienced it when players join midgame so its weird you had it so much. Ill see what I can do. Thanks again

    Didn't have players join midgame. However, it was played with 16 players. Would that have anything to do with it? If not, it might just be the various effects, trees, and stuff that affect performance

    In light of recent tests(with Max Extra), I am lifting the player count up to 16. The map worked fine with 16 players. If the map bugs out however, reload it and try again. It should work fine.

    My issue happened again when I played this in my lobby today. Such a shame because this is pretty fun when it works right. The issue might just lie with me though

    Wow that's so weird, ispiteful played many games in a row(without issues I assume) so idk what to tell you man

    Message me on xbox some time if you want to play it and we can try to get it working thats really odd tbh
