In-game description: "8 May, AD 1961 - German units arrive at the Empire's last western outpost to seek out why contact with high command has ceased for 86 days".
Description: Case Zeus is a medium to large asymmetrical map designed exclusively for the "infection" game mode. It supports a minimum of four players, and a maximum of sixteen. The theme centers around a secret, underground military base that has been left desolate due to a viral outbreak. During a prisoner riot, both resident chiefs of the medical, and weapons departments requested the installation commander to authorize a limited viral test to quell the riot. After minutes of their insistence, he granted permission to release some subjects afflicted with an experimental virus into the detention block. The medical, and weapons teams wasted no time after receiving their deployment orders. Orderlies carted several subjects to the source of the revolt, unsealed their containment units, and locked the steel gates.
Slaughter. The infected subjects displayed hunter-pack tactics: silently attacking outliers first, and then moving toward small groups in coordinated assaults. After one victim let out a bloody curdling scream for help, the alpha infected loosened a piercing shrieked, and bolted headlong into the mass of prisoners. Some tried to organize, and establish a fighting force... but many fell to the lighting strikes of the infected in defense of their cellmates. Soon panic erupted among the convicts, and a majority flocked to the detention block gates: begging observing facility staff to let them out. While the few infected drew closer to this concentration of human mass, a prisoner, who was a former base electrical technician, ran to a restricted access terminal at the block's end. After a few inputs, he was able to lower the steel gates.
The prisoners that survived the initial slaughter rushed through the now open corridors, and those staff members who were not stampeded on, or taken by the infected, fled in all directions for safety. Out of the thirty orderlies, only two managed to reach central control with a report of what had happened. On hearing such testimony, the commander ordered riot squads to secure key sectors long enough for essential, and non-essential personnel to be evacuated. These soldiers went knowing they may not escape. A final communication was recorded to be sent to high command, but it did not transmit.
