-C9 is a 4v4 map. It plays slayer and strongholds. Sadly their is currently no one side gamemodes (like one bomb or one flag) that can be used alongside those two base gamemodes. The map is a reimagined version of the famous map Highground from Halo 3.What is C9-Renovate?C9-Renovate
How is it different?-Well a major difference is the beach, because their isn't one. When designing the map i wanted to keep the focus on turret and tower gameplay but have it be more like an arena style so it would fit Halo 5 better. So i turned the turret around and cut off the beach. Other things you will notice is that their is a top mid now (don't worry this isn't the main focus of the map), and that in pipe room it now takes you the other direction. The areas where the giant missile launcher thing was and the garage where ghost and mongoose spawned were also completely changed.
So how is the design and flow?-For the most part it still plays like Highground. Its a constant struggle over turret bridge and top tower. People who have played the map will automatically trying their hardest to control that spot or gather weaponry to combat the other team, newer players catch on real quick. The other parts of the map where designed to completely direct you towards the tower and turret. This complementary style of design in the back part of the map works very well for spawning and giving players many decisions to attack.
My tips for the map and weapon usage - There are many jumps on the map that you will notice while playing. The main ones that really help is that from top mid you can jump to a sneaky ledge where C9 is posted on the wall. Another is in pit right behind turret you can go to either of the corners and jump up and clamber to get behind turret or sneak up behind anybody on tower. The rest of the jumps you can find XD. For weapons to attack you have oversheild in low courtyard which is great for pushing, and gravity hammer which is great to use if you can sneak up on enemies or chase people down and give em a swing of that banhammer. Then their is the almighty turret, stationary it has unlimited ammo and many complimentary sightlines. When you rip it off you gain more sightlines you didn't have before but you have to be more ammo cautious and could put yourself in a potentially bad situation.
Art and lore?-The art is based off of Highgrounds base architecture, but a more dumbed down version due to this being a forge map. The rest of the art direction comes from the backstory that this outpost was left to rot and become a ruin of war so you will see some broken stuff and a **** ton of grime. You know for emersion.
My overall conclusion of the map-I my self really enjoy this map, because it stays faithful to the style of gameplay of OG Highground while working in a game that plays entirely different. Its an interesting map that uses weapons almost never used in 4v4s, and it surprisingly ****ing works.
