Belleau is a medium-sized, pseudo-sym. map designed for Team Conquest. The gameplay-design concept is the following: stay in the trenches and avoid harm but sacrifice mobility and awareness. But stay above the trenches and gain visibility and move more efficiently, but sacrifice cover.
The design of the map is two circles - a large, outer-ring and a small, coinciding ring. At the heart is a defensible square that can be used to influence the inner ring, On one flank is a tall, hunting lodge that offers the highest perch on the map but with a limited view; it stares down the middle towards the square. On the other flank is a pillbox that nests a chaingun turret with a long sight-line facing the lodge perch and a shorter sight into the square's low center. Either flank can be used to lock down a portion of the outer ring and counter the center square.
For the aesthetic of the map, it is set in France during the Great War, 1918. Loose interpretations are taken on several structures of the time such as a hunting lodge (the stone, structure) a pillbox opposite and lower to the lodge, and the overall trench designs.
