Bathos Island is a re-imagining of Desert Island Base from Halo Custom Edition, which in turn is a modified version of Desert Island. Like the original Desert Island Base, the map comprises of a central island connecting two bases together, though unlike Desert Island Base, the bases are much larger, having two layers with a nest on top.

Bathos Island is designed with classic settings in mind, as Halo 5's default settings would make the map feel smaller than it already is; given the fact that this is based on one of the smallest maps in Halo Custom Edition, that is saying something. With Strongholds and Infection, the island gets an extension added on to it, allowing for increased movement options.

In terms of weaponry, there are no weapons; whatever the weapons the gametype you are using gives you are what you get; this may change in later versions.
