LORE:
Artifact is a map based around a UNSC Misriah titanium mining facility. The facility is currently excavating new alien planets for their rich ores of titanium, when they find and unearth a Forerunner artifact, already activated.

The Artifact, labeled Excavation 002, has been hypothesized to be stuck in a loop. Excavation 002 has been attempting to mine out the same location for an unknown amount of time. It has been active long enough for a large series of rocky dunes to form over it, with whatever it was once seaking being long gone.

DESIGN:

Artifact's design is based on a mix of symmetry and asymmetric gameplay. Each side shares similarities and some shape, but each side has differing qualities and mechanics.

Each base houses the flag, a BR, and a DMR. On top of these bases are a Banshee. Behind the bases are a Mantis for each side, while in front there is a Rocket Hog and two Gungooses.

Each side has a crane with a crate. Inside these crates are a railgun. These crates can be accessed by two mancannons, each. One is located on the team's base, while the other is located on the bridge that is in the center of the map.

There are lower crates that house a Needler and a stronghold. There is a third stronghold under the bridge, accompanied by a camouflage powerup. Atop the center bridge has a Spartan Laser.

There are two locations in the center of the map that will boost the player up on top of the Artifact. The Artifact holds a Fuel Rod Cannon, which can rain down from the sky. It is the ultimate vantage point of the map. Be wary, the jump to the Artifact can be pretty lengthy, leaving you a sitting duck as you ascend.

One side of the midpoint holds access to the bridge and high ground. This side's mancannon to the Artifact has two Splinter Grenades. The opposite side's Mancannon offers a nearby Hydra and the battle for a Wraith. This Wraith can be quite a blast when taken into the mancannon, but this is not advised.

On your way to the Wraith, you'll find two Boltshots. These can offer some suppressing fire against anyone else making the move.
