4v4 Breakout

Map Description

  1. Sethiroth
    This map is designed to provide you with a breakout experience like no other. I personally have never like how default breakout played and while talking with my friend Solo XIII we wanted to see if its possible to design maps the play to the strength of breakout. The theory we wanted to explore is to design maps where a team could actually play the objective. This was done by placing the capture points much closer to the flag then normal to incentivize doing the objective. I also wanted to have the maps kinda force gun play by designing maps with key chokepoints. Looking at other games and how there single life gamemodes operate is where I started looking for inspiration. Gears of War and Counter Strike is where I started. A lot of the maps used the 3 lane method for design which seemed like a logical place to start. I also wanted the maps to fully compliment team work so that teams of 4 could create strats to do on the maps hopefully giving the map more longevity and to maximize the competitive nature of single life gamemodes.

    Apparition started off as a map based on Grid Lock from Gears of War. Grid Lock was always one of my Favorites and it was a awesome map to play.

    Some of the things I added was a long flank option on the top and a bridge connection coming off the bottom building going over the mid of the map. After that I wanted to give the map more character and make it MORE HALO.

    Another route around back of the building was added and Warholic created a new passage that connects the back of the building to bottom mid. This provided more utility to bottom mid and allowed more of that sneaky feeling.

    We really wanted this map to look angular and kinda have a tron/fourunner look but still feel like a breakout map. The map can suite to all playstyles Slow or Fast but the map caters to the more faster style and Team work more than anything. There are tons of cool grenade points on the map, try learning them to get the advantage over the other team.     It was a real pleasure working with Seth on this map. I really liked the original concept and knew the map had a lot of potential. We spent a few days together refining the scale, tuning the weapon set up while adding additional routes that fit in with his original design goals. Really liking this playlist so far and think these maps are bringing Breakout in the right direction.

    Ya its was fun making this one for sure....Not going to lie the more I play it though the more I like Havoc. LOLOL. But its still fun to play
