It's great to see forgers using inspiration from Halo campaign missions. Some missions should've been used as a map and you two have proved that can be done. It makes them nostalgic and you haven't disappointed me! It has wonderful aesthetics and almost feels like a real multi-player map and the original mission. Well done to both of you and keep forging!

Ancestor is something that many have dreamed of making but never had the determination or forge merit to successfully replicate. There have been previous attempts at making a map based on the legendary Control Room structure from Halo 3 and Halo CE, but none good enough to warrant a second look or even decent gameplay.
Both Weeeeemann and D4rk Death have brought us not only an aesthetic powerhouse with Ancestor, but also a excellent arena BTB map that plays very well with Halo 5's gameplay and sandbox.
Even still I am impressed by their success in creating a vertically superior superstructure that does not dominate the map or become a pesky power position that renders the rest of the map undesired or under-powered.
At one point it was a bit too strong over the lower elevations of the map, among other problems, but this duo of forgers have demonstrated the tenacity and willpower to listen to a truckload of feedback from respected forgers and popular community members with a comprehensive understanding of map design.
This has allowed the two to refine a map worthy of being in matchmaking, and even being one of the top maps to enter matchmaking if given the chance to be included. This is not a map to be passed up

Absolutely love this map! Not only does it bring back the feels from halo 3 but offered up some fantastic gameplay as well. All three game types I played were great fun with strongholds just edging it over CTF. Would highly recommend this map to anyone and really hope it makes it onto matchmaking- it was more enjoyable than most current maps on there!

Honestly, what more could I ask for in a map. From the beginning I'm hit with a blast from the past from one of my favorite missions in the halo series. This map plays so well with a full lobby that any chance I get to play this map I take. But enough about my personal opinions.
This map excels in big team battle with Magnums start, from the spawns to the weapon placement I have yet to run into any problems with either. The gameplay flows so smoothly, its really fun trying to climb my way up the central tower or attempting to travers the bottom mid tunnel in a wraith while being chased by a warthog. The most enjoyable aspect of this map is that it feels like a tug of war no matter where I am on the map. My prior statement goes double for when this map is played with strongholds. I hope to see this work of art put into matchmaking because this is definetley one of the better maps I've seen since playing Halo 5 post forge update. -

This map is absolutely amazing and has been a blast to play on! Ancestor really captures the Forerunner feeling from the original trilogy. I've had fun playing every single BTB gametype available on this map. Each update to the map has made better and better. I hope to see this map in matchmaking someday; I feel like it would be great addition. Again, well done, D4rkDeath and weeeeemann :)

I have had the pleasure of testing this map during its polishing stage and with every update Ancestor just kept getting better and better.
When I had first looked at this map I thought to myself... “Does this really work? I mean the structure is like 4 stories tall, I will take me all day to climbing that building!” Boy oh boy was I proven wrong. With the options of man cannons, carefully placed block on each level, and the rear pathway, I found myself climbing that structure over and over again. Feeling that rush, racing the opposite team to the Banshee on top is one of the most exciting aspects I enjoyed on Ancestor. For that same reason and many more, Stronghold shines on this map. You are not just fighting over a Stronghold spot, you are fighting for the tower!
You can clearly see that this map has been polished to perfection. Every piece looks like it was fitted with immense precision and every object serves a purpose. The Scale has been fine tuned to ensure that the Forerunner structure fits comfortably right in the middle of it all without making the map feel overwhelmingly big. The result is a true classic halo atmosphere that will make any fan of the franchise wanting to go back for more. I hope we see this map in the BTB Matchmaking rotation so others can enjoy this map as much as I have.
Fantastic work D4rkDeath and weeeeemann, all those countless hours have truly paid off. I look forward to seeing what the future has planned for Ancestor.
Oh, and one more thing! You will never, ever, find a more impressive Gravity Hammer spawn location than in Ancestor. That alone is worth a download. Trust me, you want to check it out! -

There are few Forge maps that capture the absolute presence and grandeur of the Forerunner style as well as Ancestor does. From the very start, players are thrown back in time to the story of one man against all odds on a suicide mission to save the universe.
Nostalgia aside, this is arguably one the best BTB maps on Halo 5. The map allows for all kinds of play, whether it be long ranged engagements, vehicle duels or slug-fests, there is a nook for all players.
My favorite experience was during a CTF match. Both teams bounced between attempting to run the flag along the outside of the structure, exposing themselves to vehicles and snipers but cutting travel time in half. In some cases, the flag runner would travel through the structure interior, navigating the tight corners and fighting in close quarters engagements.
So why knock off half a star? Well to be fair, there are two small stand out flaws. The first deals with the extremely unforgiving killzones on the map. Dodging fire in a Banshee can result in an unwanted suicide. Additionally, well placed snipers can prove very effective for spawn killing.
Besides those two issues, my final personal opinion is that this map deserves some time in Matchmaking. Any fan of classic Halo BTB will have a blast on this map and it's dedication to theme and style are stellar.-

Thanks Ascend! The kill boundaries are fair now, there is a blocker ceiling and the map worked better with the snipers out!

The scale of this map is something to marvel about. This map perfectly captures this structure, which felt so massive when we first encountered it in Halo: CE. The gameplay is the classic and fun BTB experience that we have come to know and love from Halo.
