Yep. My question is: How will they fare against some of the enemies that they were never used on in Halo 3? In Halo 3, the only enemies you can use firebomb grenades on (to my knowledge) are Brutes and Jackals (at the end of The Ark), and if you save them, you can use them on Grunts on The Covenant. All I know is that we can't use them on Hunters or Drones, as we never have access to them when we face them. So what I'm hoping is that they're extremely effective against them. Hunters are super hard to kill on Halo 3; imagine facing them with no shields. Drones are at the other end of the scale; they're strong in numbers and agility. So I'm hoping that, for balance, Hunters and Drones will be vulnerable to fire! If not, they'll be the death of us again and again. Thoughts?
I didnt know that jackels threw firebobms. /onsubject I think the hunters will fall easy to fire, but the drones will be almost impossible to hit,let alone kill. but we will just have to see when the game comes out. hopefully there wont be many drone swarms in ODST.
I'm hoping that when you throw a firebomb at a Hunter, it's little worms will disperse and the armor will just clatter to the ground in pieces, that would be cool. And drones would just turn into crisp. But sadly Halo doesn't have dismemberment.
that new SMG will absolutely destroy the drones and for hunters, maybe they will bring back the 1 shot pistol kill. Hopefully though, if you can use fire on hunters, their armour would like melt. That would be sweet.
I beleive the one shot pistol kill is still there, I remember in one of the gameplay trailers they shot one shot in the head and the AI died
I love the firebomb grenades, but it sucks because they very rarely show up in the game, even in single player. I think they would be fine against hunters, and maybe very effective against drones. I can imagine one drone catching fire and igniting all of the others.
They can't, and neither can Grunts. Only the Stealth Brutes can. You can KILL those enemies with firebombs is what I mean. That was a glitch I think. I can never do it on Halo PC...
Oh,i see what you did thar. If you can carry them over from the ark, what keeps you from using them o hunters and drones later on?
Once a firebomb hits an enemy only that enemy feels the flames. If you hit a drone with it, you'd take down 1 drone. Sticky grenades are extremely effective on swarming drones as it has moderate damage throughout the blast radius. 1 Firebomb that hits WILL kill a player with normal settings. I'm guessing 3 firebombs will kill a hunter, seeing as hunters can generally take being stuck by 3 plasma grenades, and players can only handle 1.
the halo 1 1 pistol shot is not a glitch on xbox you could kill a hunter with one shot to the back of the head or middle back, same goes with the sniper and sniper in halo 2 now on halo 3 they are alot stronger so will you be able to kill a hunter with 1 shot or 2 in odst? as for the fire grenades id have to agree with dreaddraco2, bungie doesn't consider what the enimes are or what works better agianst what. A hunter is big so he can take more damage before falling is all.
If anything, a firebomb grenade would be less effective on drones due to their large numbers and it's small radius of damage, and on hunters because hunters have very effective armour which is metallic, and likely inflammable.
And the chances of hitting the orange spots are? (Considering the angle grenades dip, the hunter moving, your movement, etc)
We'll I've tested most of what was theorized. Hitting one drone with a firebomb instantly kills it. Hitting one NPC, the flame will spread to who ever touches it. 1 firebomb to the exposed flesh of the Hunter doesn't kill it. 3 firebombs have the potential to kill a Hunter (Not sure, only could have two. It died after 2 firebombs and one stuck brute grenade) I have the film if you want to see for yourself. And, yes, one shot in the exposed skin from the pistol in Halo 1/PC will kill the Hunter instantly. I can get proof of this two is one so desires.
that would be pretty effective against drones then, with that many they will collide alot, and the blast radius taken into acount. 800th post!
Easy. No because they fall like rocks once they die, granted, I didn't have a swarm to try it but in theory, yes it would work well.
