Tsavo Standoff By SOLO Yes, I finally finished I hope you all like it this is my second Sandbox Map but trust me it's not my last. This was my first time using a OLN Canvas and experimenting with geomerging. I tryed to make everything smooth but I was running out of time, sorry if you hit a few bumps. This map was inspired by Tsavo Highway off the Campaign in Halo 3. I really liked the Wrecked Bridge when you got close the Highway in the mission, so I figure why not turn that into a map. I couldn't just have a bridge so I designed some bases and it made me think of Standoff and thats where the name came from. I'll leave it up to you to see if it plays like Standoff or something else. Sorry I had to Dolo it up in my pics I couldn't get people for gamplay of the finished version. Anyway I wont delay you any longer onto the map! Unfortunatly Im gonna have to leave you with this latest map for a while because back to college I go so I won't be on as much Thanks for reading my thread I hope you like the map and Please leave comments constructive criticism would be nice too if needed.
EPIC MAP. Feature. Anyway, WOW, this looks great. Both bases have a good layout with an interesting addition and your bridge actually resembles Tsavo Highway. The red building has the window building, and the blue has what looks like a balcony. And the ground isn't just random objects, they're buildings, and neat ones at that. Pretty much everything is really neat here. No improvements necessary but if it were me I would make the bridge again (if possible) with more curve and at the broken part have one end be raised above the other like on the Tsavo Highway. Great job, defdinant download from me when my Xbox gets repaired.
Wow, this looks like a great map. I like how it's symmetrical, but at the same time, not exactly symmetrical. I won't say any more until I DL, but I'll get back to you. Update - Very nice, indeed. There are some really awesome structures here, the bases are probably my favorite, but the bridge and the standoff bunkers are pretty sick, too. Weapons and spawns look good too. Good Job
awesome map,get back to you after i play ... the blue base looks very open on top or is that just the roof top where you cant get to? ...did you use a budget glitch? also you should put one or two more broken stones on the ground under the bridge.. use small broken column pieces. and maybe the bridge should just go farr out of map cause there is just a little bridge that stops in the sand y would a bridge really be there ? its not believable
Nice! I've been waiting to see what this would turn out like ever since the sketch-up version. It looks awesome. I love the buildings and that bridge is incredible! A definite download from me. It looks amazing, well done.
I'm assume this is the map you were talking about last night? It looks great and pretty representative of tsavo. Some great forging and geo-merging, if your ever organising a game on it, send me a message and I'll happily try it out.
This map is awsome..looks cool....and i bet it plays well on all gametypes as well. the bridge is awsome, the only thing is that it doesnt look like the bridge would be used too much, this is not anything major, but if you rotated it like 10 degrees clockwise it would be used more. sorry to be the guy that finds a slight flaw!! still and awsome map.
You are a seven-foot tall man walking around in enclosed spaces fighting other seven-foot tall men while in green, 1/2 ton armor that has shields that can take two 50. cal sniper rounds, and still being able to jump higher than anyone else in the history of man-kind. And you complain about this being "unbelievable"? As for the map, spectacular. I cant I magine how long or how much work this took, but I hope you are proud of yourself because I think it paid off. I especially like the wall halfs sticking out of the broken section of the bridge. This is definetly feature worthy, and, depending on how it plays, possibly matchmaking worthy
this map is epic. FEATURE NAOWWW!!1!one! the interlocking and geomerging looks flawless, and the bridge looks amazing. the bases aren't completely symmetrical, and i think that it makes this map really unique. the weapon layout looks perfectly done and solid. btw, i can see this map being epic for 2 flag. i'll have a full review after i test it for 4v4 slayer, ctf, and assault.
What advice did you take or not take after that game with Slik and Shaddo and them? I'm curious to see how the map plays after tweaking. It played great when I played it (Lolz for my sniper spree) but there a few minor issues like the amount of weapons in the middle of the map, mainly BR's. And the lack of ramps leading up to the bases. How did you fix these problems?
First and foremost, I love the highway. With that said, I am not too much a fan of the intermediate structures between the main bases and the highway itself (namely: standoff 2). But the layout is great and the map plays well; despite my minor grievances with the standoff structures, I love it. 5/5
LOL well stated. As for the map, it sucks that you cant do more work with it since your off to college. All this critisim is going slightly to waste. However, at least I feel good about saying that this map is beast, though thats been said a hundred thousand times (actually, at this point less than 12). The Standoff stuctures, like the dude two comments above me, are a little iffy, but if you took them from the designs of Tsavo Highway, then thats pretty epic. The bases in my opinion look good and the sniper perch May be a little OP if you can duck to cover and get 100% protection. Overall, this map is solid, and if you spent a good 5-10 hours more, maybe you could have others complaining less. 4.5/5, this is a good map...
That could be the funniest thing I have ever heard OMG! LMFAO! Anyways I like the map...Alot. I think it would be great for gameplay and I will download for sure and give it a go. I am impressed 100% nice work.
Finally... Ive waited a while for this one to come out, and now i can actually play it. The bridge is awesome, and the base designs are just epic. I think this really does deserve a feature, great job.
My god. That's the reaction I got from this map. It plays like a dream, with stunning aesthetics and very balanced weaponry. The map seems symmetrical at first, but the little difference make each base feel so unique. The bases themselves are easily jumped on top of, creating un-covered vertical clearance, but the beautiful sniper towers work just fine. I thought they would be an ideal camp spot, but 'nading that area is an easy, yet effective, job. Vehicles don't influnce the map greatly, which is a good thing, since I hate default Sandbox's warthog patrols. My favoutite spot is the blue sniper corridor, which has slit walls for shooting out of. While wide enough for a warthog, battles are always cramped here, and the upper-hand wins the majority of times. Another technique I like is taking sniper and jumping through the window to camo. From there, you move up to the central bridge, and nobody ever suspects a sniper at that angle. Finally, the angled roof on the first floor of the bases is excellent for attacking, as you can stand on them and fire at the foes through the windows. Again, I really enjoyed Tasvo Standoff, and I suspect you all will too.
First off, HOLY **** this map is amazing, i love capture the flag and this map is perfect for it. thank you. i cant wait to see your future maps.
I saw your map preview for this and I was all... =o. This is just flat out my kind of map, my favorite style of play. I love this. Thank you for making this, you need to be featured for it.
i love the way you made the bridgh look broken. i cant really tell how the rest of the map looks because there are not verry many pics but ill have to DL n check it out. 10/10 on the bridge alone.
All i have to say is simply amazing iv seen maps with a bridge that spans the middle of the map but yours is simply amazing this map is so beautifully crafted and is so much fun to play. Great work.
