Tomorrow I realise the dreams of my ancestors, who were shipped to Australia for crimes such as theft of bread, murder, and hacking, and like the platypus swim: swim into the brilliant star of a better world.

In short of have my first job interview tomorrow at Electronics Boutique. Does anyone have any tips, advice or websites with tips or advice?

Dress in some nice clothes, shake the guy's hand, say good-bye, and keep the guy wanting to talk to you.

And if you don't get the job then take that interview as a practice. :p

I want to work at EB too. Can you tell me th minimum age and what qualities they are looking for?

Anyway, present yourself well. Smell nice, dress nice, talk nice and be confident.

I know at Best Buy the minimum age to work there is 16, and they carry high-end products that cost thousands of dollars. I'm sure GameStop the minimum age is the same, as I've seen young chicks working there before.

Walk in expecting them to ask you the obvious questions about why you want to work there, and things like that, but also consider the specifics they will probably ask you for that job.

They'll want to know your game knowledge, so you better be able to snap off a good top 5 games at least, and some of them better be newer games(last couple months). My current job at blockbuster I had to give a sales pitch for a movie as if I was trying to sell it to a customer, so you might expect something similar there. If you can demonstrate your willingness and ability to talk up pre-order games like Halo: ODST that is a huge plus, since these companies are pretty vicious about pushing pre-orders on people. You'll feel like a jackass, but they want you to offer every customer a pre-order, preferably one similar to what they're buying at the time for easier success.

And probably the biggest one, just smile, shake the interviewer's hand, and act excited.

Address the dude as "sir" every time you answer a question. When I was an inexperienced caddy, I called this guy by his first name, and he was having a bad game, so he got pissed and under tipped me. I've been there for so long now, that never really happens, and that ***** couldn't afford me now.

Aside from what others have said, just act natural. Even if you're sweating balls, just act like it's any other day. Crack a tasteful joke if the opportunity arises, be a likable person. Nobody wants to hire a jackass or someone who's so nervous that they don't speak on their own.

What the **** is that garbage?

Bullshit your way through anything and everything.
    Be respectful.
Lie to the poor bastards. Tell them that they look pretty, whatever the **** it takes to get your ass that job.

The last one especially. If you think its going to sound bad, don't ****ing say it. Make that dumb piece of **** feel like he just won the god damn lottery.

What the hell is up with you people. Don't crack a ****ing joke. You're going to be too nervous and it will look like epilepsy. If they're interviewing you at EB chances are they want to give you the job anyway because EB/gamestop doesn't ****in' hire you unless they're desperate. Just bullshit your way through and once you have the job, then be yourself (unless they'd fire that).

Lying about what? That his hair looks nice? That you give a **** about the weather? Yeah, good ****ing reasons to get fired. I've got an idea, how about you tell him that you hate that lazy eye of his and he's got his mother's lip stick on the side of his face, that will get you the job.

You act like he's going to lie about his name or address or something. What could you possibly lie about in an interview that is grounds for firing later (that does not involve personal information: name, address, etc.).

Ragging on the employer appearance kind of collides with the "be respectful" rule I agreed with.

He could lie that he's well organized and doesn't have any problems with times. But in a month he's going to be coming in with his shirt untucked as he's asking to get out early to watch his baby sister.

Well they won't hire him in the first place if he tells them that. If you tell them you are organized and that you don't have problems with times at least you'll have the job for a month. Its better than nothing. I don't think we have to worry about that from him anyway.

Lol. Or you can easy your way into the job and say that this is his first job and he sometimes has family issues. Then they might cut his hours a bit, but he will have a long-term job in the run of it.

But that's not honest. You just made that up. You lied which is exactly what I told him to do.

I 'helped' hire a few people at my old job. I know what they look for and there are things they hear all the time that are buzz words for laziness.
