Agreed. Think about it guys, we're like a cult. If the movie comes out, and is directed at a broad community, those who do not like Halo (e.g. those who have a PS3 and refuse to accept that the Halo franchise is any good) will be all like "so this is what you've been going on about?". If it's a cult movie, whoch it needs to be, it won't make much money. So it's kinda stuck. This is why I hope they drop the idea. They've milked the chief cow enough.
Movies are only good if they focus on very few characters, and those characters are worth paying attention to and caring about. Master Chief does not have the kind of story that a moviegoing audience will care about, so I'm hoping if they do any Halo movie it centers on the first Keyes. Miranda's dad. His story revolves around more than just military training and armed conflict. Plus there's the opportunity to work John 117 in there like in The Fall of Reach.
Not true: Snatch, Crash, 12 Angry Men just to name a few. All great movies, all have many characters.
I will say that this could be an epic tale of awesome, but most likely they will try to just pump it full of as many effects and explosions as possible and pass it off as a hit.
I'm hoping it's still directed either Peter Jackson or Neill Blomkamp. Neill's shorts were pretty good, and hopefully is District 9 is good then maybe Halo will be his next movie.
I also mentioned somewhere that it will be about The Fall of Reach...doesn't mean you're just stuck with MC. You have the space battles, the ground battles, and all those characters and stuff. I think the movie should be like Black Hawk Down or Star Wars 1-3, where they have awesome CGI but aren't just all about big explosions or large battles, and actually have a plot. Well that's a downer. Microsoft is saying that they're putting ODST and reach first though. Hopefully it's because of your script theory... I'm still unsure about it. The same guy who is supposedly writing the script is also the same guy who wrote the one for this. Bleh.
If that's true then we may as well lock this. I havn't even seen the film, but i know already it is the greatest disapointment and waste of money just short of moonlandings.
I agree with matty,it will probobly be a waste of money. video game to movie transformations dont work well...and vice versa.
I thought they stopped production of this movie a year ago. did they pick it back up or they just trying to make a riot?
