Mine just hit me when I watch Halo vids. I see an imba strategy and I think "Hey, I should take the best from this map and link it up with this, that and that. And BOOM inspiration.

So, basically your maps are not original ideas?

    Interesting...

The building I work in gives me inspiration for a map that I have yet to start on (no time!). Hopefully I will someday get around to it.

So I assume that you prefer making mini-game maps.

Interesting game for inspiration... I thought of using some Mario Kart 64 arenas for a VIP rocket race game, but Foundry was too small. *sad*

I just free forge until I see Something I like. Then I just run with it.

Free-forging is tough for me. Its time consuming to just sit there and mess around until an idea pops in my head.

Fortunately, I have at least two maps that I plan on working on, one of which is super-top-secret, but I'll give you a hint. Its designed for 2v2, 3v3, and maybe 4v4 games. FFA may work too, but I won't have that in mind while creating it.

If I could "buy" free time, I would be broke...

I have maps where I just Interlock Objects Into Certain shapes. That way if I'm bored and can't think of anything I just go there and see what I've made in the past. I sit there and say well hey, this would be good for a section of a indoor battle or this could easily become a section of a Racetrack. (I have only made one Race Track. Sorry, but I find them Boreing after the first time you ride them.)

i get the whole random stuff flying everywhere until you get something, but i don't think remaking peoples maps is fair, but whatever works for you.

you can be "inspired" from other people's maps, but you shouldn't "remake them"

My inspiration is usually based around one central idea then the rest of the map flows out of that central idea.

Been doing the same job or 3 years. Need something to think about while I'm building houses. Why not thinking about building maps.

yea, but that was different, cause i played on it! j/k different things work for different people, i can't make a map from throwing crap around, im just not that abstract (i used to be, but my hard-assed art teacher scared it out of me) now i just make one thing then something else that works well with that thing, and so on until i run out of space, objects or enthusiasm (rarely)
