However, you do not need the y cables if your TV has RCA out jacks. They look like the standard RCA jacks, and are marked by the word, 'out' on your tv. In this case all you need to do is plug in your xbox normally to your tv, and use a two-ended RCA cord to connect your capture card to the out jacks on your TV. Most TV's have out jacks, some do not.

On a side note, for Mac users out there, there are also video editing programs out there that work amazing on mac. I personally own a Dazzle DVC 170 for mac, so this is not an issue. Macs come with iMovie on it, but if you want to get fancy you could go with Final Cut Express, which is an amazing video editor that i believe costs about $150-$250. The full version, Final Cut Studio is as professional as you can get, but pulls a sucker punch on your wallet. $1300 bucks my ass. There is lots of other stuff out there for Mac, but iMovie is fairly sophisticated anyway, and is my reccomendation for mac users out there.

what does britsh have to do with it. try editing the settings so they match your set-up. if that dun work, try tightening the cables. if all else fail. restart everything.

The default setting in the UK is 50hz and it's 60hz in the US. That's what.

Allright, i've got a question. I will follow all the steps here, but I think my computer is too far from my TV (10-12 ft or so) and I can't use my laptop mostly because its not mine and its pretty shitty. So, if I buy the cord and the length doesn't make it, what hope do I have?

Will the coupler and double sided AV cable be long enough?

So let's say I already have a cap card, and an S-Video cable (same thing as the regular AV Cable but it has an extra black circular plug to go along with the yellow/white/red cords) and I want to be able to play on my TV while I cap, what I would need is a Y cable? I can already cap, but I need my 360 right beside my computer and it's pretty annoying, and I can't play while I cap. I don't really need to know what to do, I can figure it out, but is that all I'd need to buy at Best Buy? A Y cable?

OK, I have an Acer laptop, with windows vista, 160 gb, and DVD super-multi DL, what ever that means.

But I need some info on what type of capture device I should get.
This thread was made a long time ago, and I want to know if there are any new ones out there I should get, and if so, could you make me a small tutorial on it.

I would just like to know, what is the advantage of doing all of this with the coupler and splitters when you can just do this:

Xbox ---> TV <---Male to Male RCA---> Dazzle ---> Laptop

The splitters lets you be able to record on your computer, whilst still being able to use your tv instead of the normal small preview screen the program gives you. The coupler lets you extend the length of your capture device, its ment for people whos xbox tv and computer are not next to each other.

Its not supposed to come out as a .vob file, check the pinnacle program settings that came with dazzle, and try to record in mpeg or avi.

Yes, but I don't see how my method wouldn't allow you to play on the TV while recording.

Have you checked the capture card with other programs?

    AVS is a good one.
