Intresting... The game itself looks like any normal ODST Survival thing, but the Map is somewhat odd. The base that the ODST's drop into looks really lopsided and looks like a half building of sorts. Unless that is just Asthetic, It looks fairly weird. I personally dont like that the Covenant have an armory, They can just continually grab a fuel rod gun and use that the entire time. Or even a needler for that matter; Its almost cheap in a way. The one major thing that i do like is the Drop Pod. That, and the ODST ship were well made. Multiple HEVs might be nice though, incase someone decides to run to the only HEV and drop it without anyone else. And the idea of dropping them in different places would be nice as well. I'm not trying to be a jerk, it just needs a little work.
The base is not 'lopsided' either. Half of it has been taken out but that was for gameplay and aesthetics reasons. It's important for the covenant to have the armory, and it also says in the post that that the fuel rod gun takes a fair while to respawn and plus there are only 2 or 3. In the video, the last ODST was raped by a spartan laser. But that weapon was meant for the ODST. It spawns inside their base, and had they picked it up in the beggining they would have most likely survived the entire 5 minutes. The needler is also not a great choice of weapon inside the ODST base. Try it with multiple people. Neither weapons are overpowering so long as the ODST aren't stupid don't go running out guns flying. Are you sure you actually downloaded the map? The ODST ship was the least aesthetically pleasing part of the whole map! It doesn't really matter, you don't die if you fall. In the video someone does get ditched.. As long as you ditch within 30 seconds or before the enemy can get underneath your drop spot, it's all good. It's called critiscism, I'm used to it.
omg this map looks sick when my live starts working again def this will get a download and as previously stated sure the aesthetics arent the best but who cares you're not gonna be exploring the map and examining every square inch of it you're gonna be focused on survival and not being killed by the endless horde of covenant
It's only the covenant base that's not great aesthetically... and you barely notice it since in the dark. I spent a **** load of time with the ODST base making everything look nice and getting rid of the smallest bumps. /sadfaic
The ODST pod is amazing! but I think the ODSTs have too much damage resistance, I'd put it down a bit, but thats just my opinion.
i think you should make more droppods and on different places so that like droppods are coming in from behind back left and right with 1 or 2 persons in it that would make it a lot cooler and maybe if you could make a real covenant ship with one way out on the bottom and two side openings with a plasma turret then this map would be alot better the idea is very good i dunno if you have the patience to make all that but if you would it will be very cool.
pretty sweet map dude. i love the drop pod idea. the only complaint i have is that the base is good dont get me wrong but it is a bit sloppy if you look close. and the random walls out in the middle of nowhere??? whats that about. maybe make a v2 thats a little nicer and more asthetically pleasing. looks like a buttload of fun though
It's for cover for the covenant, but still I guess I could have worked a bit harder on it. I'm done forging for a while though..
Great Idea, but I tend to find ways that exploit custom games weaknesses and problems. 1, if the ODSTs don't have shields, could a covenant carbine simply kill them with one headshot? 2, What prevents the ODSTs from camping (by use of assassination) the teleporters?
Yes, as the FakeAngatar has said, I turned on headshot immunity. And to answer your second question, I'm 100% sure it won't happen.. 1)Because there is no way they could get there before the covenant come out. 2)They cannot jump high enough to get there. 3)The covenant respawn inside their base, not in the tunnel.
Cool map, awesome ideas, awesome drop pod, I will download this and check it out later after I finish downloading the various Helm's Deep maps I found, because sadly I didn't get to test it. You finally figured the drop pod out, while my xbox was down, good for you.
I'v played lots of odst firefight maps recently including this one, and I must say this is probably the best one so far that I've played. The drop pod works great, the gameplay is good although I think the eltei leader should have been stronger and have more shields. Nevertheless this is still a great firefight map, the only thing I think could have been improved on was the aesthetic part, most of the covenant cover was messy although in the end did help me out while playing. It's weird how the odst base looks so nice and the covenant one is just meh. Aesthetics aside, the challange of this game I give a 5/5. There's nowhere you can actually camp which is an added bonus and for that you get a cookie. I've seen someone camp underneath the first ramp in the base bottom floor, and was raped by an onslaught of plasma nades just like in the 1st action pic. Good job were it not for some minor things this would be a 5/5 It hink but for now I give 4.5/5
There's nothing actually stopping them from picking up the human weapons. Ruins the mood, but still there's no rule againts it. Watch the video and see how the guy I was following dies lol. Map hit 1000th today and so did my post count.
I would make it so that the covenant can only pick up weapons for a short time using respawn settings. The fuel rod and some if not all of the vehicles should not spawn at start . just some suggestions to improve game play o and delay the covenant just a little more if you can. @everyone who is complaining about the drop pods: There don't need to be more than one and if someone launches it before you get in who cares? just jump down after them there still is no fall damage in halo 3
I don't like how the base is one-way in the fact that an ODST can make it to the top and just defend his perch from there. Overall there are alot of firefight games being made recently and I like the drop pod mechanism, but could you tell me how to explain the drop pod to idiots or how it will explode in 30 seconds? Killball?
Lot harder than it seems, there's more than 1 way for the covenant to get inside. Furthermore, they'll be continuously barraged by an onslaught of wraith fire, banshee bombs, plasma nades, and wave after wave of covenant. The video isn't a very good example of how relentless your opponents are, you have to really play it. To get past the full 5 minutes you have to play smart, so running around killing everything in sight is suicide. Get inside the 2 barricades, hit the pallet, you drop. Not that hard. Yes, a few kill balls spawn to make it look like an explosion. And it also stops camping inside the ship. But it's a better idea to get out as fast as possible because the covenant will be underneath your position really quick.
Love it This is excellent. You should setup a custom game sometime for anyone who wants to join and play on this map.
Dude, the humans do not get enough time. I played this with friends and the simple fact of it is that if the "covenant" pick up needlers as their first weapon and launch a needler assault, the humans will be devastated in seconds flat. By all means properly set delayed spawns! I seriously played this map with my friends and this was the sequencial order of gameplay. Humans spawn, grab shotgun and drop. By that time the covenant have already made it through the teleporters after choosing their weapon. They needle me before I can even get to the hideout. Now once I actually did make it as a human to the hideout, but the banshees that instantly spawn at start along with swords and the needlers are still a big threat. Your video was misleading, because the covenant in your video was obviously not as devious as my friends. Overall: You need to set delayed spawn times for weapons and vehicles. Even if it's 20 or 30 seconds, it gives humans time to get to a defensive position. And do NOT have the needler spawn at start. That is byfar the most lethal covenant weapon at medium range. And also I'd like to say that there are some weapons that are in the base and not the ODST drop site (like the spartan laser and trip mine), and these weapons should be placed later on because if I try to reach these weapons at the start of the game I get easily overcome by the covenant. Maybe you should release a v2 or at least an update so that the covenant are less cheap. I know I can do these changes myself but obviously you as the creator shouldn't have to have people fix mistakes for you.
