Am I the only one who thinks that the moderation in the map forums is a little TOO strict? I mean, it has gotten to the point where people barely even post on maps anymore. I am not going to post any statistics or anything, but it is very evident. I find myself hesitant to post, in fear that my post will not be up to standards. I have also talked to some older members that have said they just avoid posting in map forums all together. This paired with the fact that you can't necro-post in the map forums is not a good thing. Any thoughts?
Are you kidding me? If anything they're not strict enough. I see so much crap posts in there nowadays that that's the reason I don't often post in there. And the point of not necroposting maps is so that we don't have the same maps continuously in the first page all of the time. If it's for a good reason, such as a map update or whatnot, and the author doesn't want to make a new topic, then yeah, it's generally accepted to bump up your map if you have a real update. But those are specialty cases. Most of the time, what ends up happening is that a couple dumbasses go into the 20th page and post saying "this map iz gud 4/5". I hardly ever see the author legitimately bumping up his thread to update his map.
I'm a fricken pansy when it comes to the map forums. I got in trouble for infracting borderline spam. Stop your bitching, it isn't that hard to write a paragraph. Lord knows you did one just now, and countless others have just to complain.
Also, do you think the author of the map really wants a bunch of BS spam posts on there map. I do try to stay away from posting in the map forums because of fear of infractions. But I agree with X5 , if the map forums weren't strict then nobody would come here to post there maps cause all they will get is a bunch of spam bull ****.
I see spam posts everytime I go into the maps forum because the only thing people know how to say is 4/5 nice interlox and not a real review or comment or question. I think there sometimes is to much to even get monitored efficiently. I don't like posting my maps there anymore because of that.
I outright avoid posting in the map fourm because everytime I post in it I get infracted it seems like.
I don't know if more guardians is the answer to this problem... I'm pretty sure they want to keep it at four, and the guardians are doing a decent job. At least, that's how it seems to me. I believe it's pretty obvious what spam is and what isn't, "luks gewd, more interl0cks 4/5" is spam. That's not saying you can't spam with correct grammar and a paragraph of text... but spam is pretty easy to spot. I will however admit it seems that anytime I brows through the forums ( I just try to avoid that area altogether) I see spam left and right. I don't keep up with each spam post to see if the user gets infracted, but I do see some spam posts that are pretty old and the users haven't been infracted. So, I don't know how you would solve this problem unless you actually added more moderators and more guardians or had a more extremely dedicated moderators. I really don't know if I support that idea though, it seems it might be counter productive in the end. So, I believe I shall now shut up and let members with experience actually moderating discuss some of us.
Obviously. All members should know that, if that worked we wouldn't have a problem with spam. I'm not saying it doesn't work at all, I mean that's what it's for, but it doesn't fix everything. Nemi >.>
Oh right, cause Forgehub was meant for maps. My bad. Its been awhile since I actively was in that area. Community ftw.
Well unless we cack down on spamming its not like its going to go away. And the only way to crack down on spam is through mored dedicated moderators and guardians. Unless you have any other suggestions
You've got a little brown spot on your nose there. And stouf, the community is all good for fun and games, but what this place is about, has always been about, and will continue to be about, is for Forge. This site doesn't need the community aspect as much as it needs its maps forums.
inb4tex Honestly, things will continue the way they do, and the Staff will continue trying to find ways to decrease on spam. It's as simple as that.
I wasn't saying the Forge part isn't important, I was saying the I personally have drifted away from it due to other things. I'm mostly still here cause the community. But thats just me.
