    This is my new map called "Sci Fi"

    It has been about 3 months since my last post on this forum when I uploaded my arena map called "OCTAGUN EVOLVED" and this is now my second map on Sandbox.


    Summary:-

    The map itself is a fairly big symmetrical map variant for teams 2 - 6, It is set up for most of the standard bungie game variants and can be used for any custom FFA game variants gamers may have, like say an MLG FFA game variant for example.



    Weapons/Items:-

    On the map there is 1 Camo, 1 Overshield, 4 battle Rifles, 2 Sniper Rifles, 2 Carbines, 2 Shotguns, 2 SMG's, 2 Plasma Rifles and 1 Rocket. 4 Frag nades,and 4 Plasma nades.. All of which can all be changed at anytime ofcourse through the means of a custom game variant of the gamers choice for their own prefence of team/FFA play on the set Map variant.



    The Map Layout:-

    To sum up the map layout, there is a Red base, a Blue base and a Blue right side and a Red right side. There is a bottom mid, a mid mid, and a top mid, there are also colour coded tunnels just after the exits of each base to access to mid mid and then either go stright through to the opposite tunnels or go down to access either bottom mid or both bottom sides if you wish to.


    There are also 3 exits from each base, and 2 ways in:-

    Going Out of Each Base:-

    1. You can either go up a ramp and out towards the colour coded tunnels then straight to bottom mid straight , or
    2. Use a man cannon out which leads to your colour base's right side, or
    3. Go through a 2 way node out which also leads out to your colour base's right side.



    Entering Each Base:-

    1. You can enter either through the 2 way node's access bottom right or the bottom left.
    2. Simply up the Ramp entering the base.



    Access To Top Mid:-

    1. There are 2 ways to to top mid and thats through 2 sender nodes to 2 receiver nodes, Both the Sender nodes are under the ramps at bottom mid, If you Exit from each base going down through the middle to bottom mid, going through the right hand side sender node will send you to your base's top mid.



    My Own Assessment Of My Finished Map variant:-

    The Map I feel is very Good overall, Looks good, plays not that bad, but looking at it outside of the box sort of speak I think it would have been much, much better without all the limitations set by bungie as I had just enough budget, didn't use all of each item but did reach that maximum third Budget limit, that can't place no more items on map thing. The entire map as it is needs:-
    1. More weapons
    2. More spawns
    3. More nades
    4. More items
    and 5. More Objects placed on the map as the map itself seems to look about 90% complete and I had much more I wanted to add which would have improved on it 10 fold.

    For these reasons above I would give the map about a 4/5 for it, as it is.

    I like the looks of this, I'll d/l. It's basically Narrows in the weapon balance so I might forge in something different after I play it for a while, but the architecture is original and neatly placed. Good pics as well

    The architecture is original like he said, but I am not sure about all the power weapons.

    I like It, the architectural style is very original (I may have to steal your interlocking a coloured gold column allmost all the way into the wall so it sticks out just far enough to show the surface for team indicators idea =P) and I actually like it when a map has a lot of power weapons, It reminds me of the days of halo 1 multiplayer where every map would have enough power weapons to shoot down In Amber Clad xD

    Thanks for the good feedback so far, and yeah,

    Just thought I would just add, that I do know about the "power weapons" as I have wrote in my post above though, it is a 2 - 6 team base game, not everybody will have a power weapon at any given time and most of the weapon spawns I have thought about very carefully and are not set to re-pop say every second, so the re-pop times plus the number of players sort of balances it out.

    Not only that but just like I said above about the weapons,
    Also as with say Bungie or MLG Maps there is the option of later changing either the default weapons, their spawn times or even a little more room for change ie with say epitaph to epilogue.

    But all feedback is Good feedback so again Thankyou but I just thought I would add the above as I didn't want the map and the layout of the map to be side tracked by the weapons..

    This map is VERY good. To give it a 4/5 would be an injustice. I'd have to say that this is one of the most architecturally original skybubble maps. This deserves a feature. I can guess the 2 shotguns even each other out, while the rocket is the main power weapon in play. But I don't get why you have shottys AND maulers. I think that's a bit... useless. I'd have to give this a 5/5. 10/10. 97/100. But I'd probably rename it to "awesomeness."

    this is a definately a must dl for me
    considering i love team based maps 10/10

    a question though is it okay if you can put just
    a little bit more pictures in the mid?
    well since im going to dl it it wont really matter
    but that will be kool:)

    Whoah man calm down with all the power weapons. The best thing about this map is definitely the aesthetics. Unfortunately, it doesn't play as well as it looks, especially for lone wolf games. This is due to a combination of too many power weapons and easily campable areas. Keep up the good work though.

    Benzu13, - I like where your coming from and you talk alot of sense,You understand where I'm coming from too, I also will change the maulers for 2 more weapons at some point and re-up the link here, and many thanks for such high praise i'm speechless by your nicely worded comments thankyou.

    Chaos Blitz777 - yeah, That made me smile I will add some more photos soon, also thankyou for that very nice score indeed.


    and Limeology - Again I thank everyone who has made a comment on my map but please read above on my posts and my comments aswell before posting your view, I don't want to have to repeat myself to every reply in this thread,

    No: 1 I've already posted and explained about the powerweapons above now TWICE!!!

    It is for teams of up to 2 - 6, hence the weapons on the map as it is, is meant for "TEAM BASE"
    I have played many FFA's on the map and it does work It's as simple as changing the game Variants to your taste as again I have said above now twice.

    I played a MLG FFA with upto 6 people by using a "MLG Game Variant" which I had, you can also then set No Weapons in the Game Variants options by default too as a added option.


    Look beyond the weapons on the map people please, it's mainly for a team base game not lone wolfs, and its setup is for team base games.
    Just look at The Pit or even Narrows as mentioned early, in comparison too, its not that much different and a huge stretch to compare weapon wise, It's not like theres 2 Rockets, 2 Spartan Lasers 2 Brute shots 2 Sentinel Beams and even a sword or Grav Hammer on the map is there. theres not even 1 single turret, a simple changing of the maulers to other 2 weapons will work quite well I think now.

    Once the Map Variant is downloaded you can easily edit and create games on it by the just choosing a game variant for it if you wish too,


    In short

    Map Variant = OK For Team Base IMO
    A Game Variant needed = The best idea for FFA's IMO for the map variant as it is.












    UPDATED AND EDITED TODAY

    1. Just a quick update, Replaced 2 mauler's with 2 SMG's
    ( that way you can also choose to use dual weapons too )

    2. Took out the 2 Power Drains.

    3. Just moved some Weapon Placements.

    4. Added New Snapshots to this thread.
