I have recently decided to get a Mac Book but I need help deciding what MB is the best value. From my research on apple.com it looks like the three laptops (MB, MBP, MBA) don't have much different besides screen size, looks, and storage.

I have begun to consider a MBP but it doesn't seem like there is much different from any of the 3.

    Now for pricing:
Mac Book: sells for $999 with 500GB of storage and a 2.13 GHz Intel processor. The looks of the MB seem bleak and boring but never the less it has a good value for good processing power.

Mac Book Pro: Has 3 sizes with a huge prise difference between each size. (13" - $1199, 15" - $1699, and 17" - $2499) The MBP 15" advertises the longest lasting battery which has been a stickler for me in the past. And a 4GB hard drive with a 2.53 GHz Intel processor. The body is also made with precision aluminum and looks good. Right now I find this to be the best value

Mac Book Air: Sells for $1499 ($200 bucks cheaper than MBP 15") The processing power of the MBA is the same as the MB despite the size difference. This laptop also has a 120GB hard drive.

When I am on the computer I do a lot of work on Microsoft Word, I use the internet for things like project research, Checking up on things like xbox.com, bungie.net, forgehub.com, etc. For more useful info I would like to get into video making (machinimas, pic slide shows, etc.) I also store a lot of pictures on my computer.

Reasons I want a Mac include things like PCs annoy the **** out of me with there update pop-ups, slow everything, bad quality of computers and hardware, and... i have vista :(. Other reasons are Macs have a better/cleaner look, they are quick and once I learn my way around one I can use it without problems, macs have almost no viruses, etc.

Now that you have an overview of each apple laptop, which should I buy, which is the best value, and why should I buy it?

y would u want a macbook air its +$500? its the same thing AS YOU STATED as the MB so being thin doesnt really matter unless you want to mail it in a manilla envelope,

i dont know much about macs, but i would choose the mac book, its cheapest also it probably can still run alot of stuff and $700 for longer battery and better RAM is ridiculous. ALSO you didnt list all the information such as hard drive and battery life on all of them, and hwat your doing with them, i would choose macbook if i chose a mac, macbook pro is for people who need extras and macbook air is for people who are attracted to simple things.

also if you want longer battery just buy a second battery, and since you have an ex- bawxz u dont need good ram for playing games, if you want to play games get a desktop

Updated for reasons I want a mac and what I use computers for.

    As for Orange:
I have already decided against a MBA because it's only advantage is the manila envelope. I would consider a normal MB as a good laptop but through craigslist and ebay I may be able to score my self a good price on a MBP.

MBPs advantages over MBs are mostly looks. I don't really find a shitty looking laptop to be a good laptop (not trying to be a spoiled brat). If I want a Mac I want a quality one that will last me years... and I won't half to replace it because of battery, which is why I want good battery life.

How much money do you have?

Out of them all, i'd always go for the top of the range 15 inch macbook pro. 15 inch is just right, 17 is far too bulky to carry around, and with the 13 it's harder to enjoy using it, and your paying more for worse performance just for a slightly smaller size.

The air is a rip off, if you actually want that, then i would get the 13 inch Macbook pro, or even get the Dell Adamo.

I'd also look at Dells xps15, but by far, the 15 inch pro wins.

Modern PC games use **** all ram in comparison to the strain they put on your processor and graphics card. If you plan on high end video editing or playing games, don't settle for the 9400, try and get the 9600 or the 9600 and 9400, which is where the 15 inch wins because its cheaper than the 17inch, but offers space inside for the extra upgrades that the 13inch doesnt.

Don't worry about money but the 15" Mac Book Pro is a big stretch for me. Thats why I am gonna see what kind of deals I can get from ebay and craigslist.

(If I recall Matty is from either Australia or New Zealands so craigslist may not be an option for you, correct me if I am wrong. Also, not stalking. Just recall a post from a long time ago from a premium that I might be Matty being from a heavily accented country,to americans)

my thoughts exactly. 15" seems like the best value but the Mac Book has similar processing power but looks shitty.

Also Agreed but i want to stick with apple computers

    Again, apple computers for me.

I have the 13 inch mbp and I love it. It looks good and usually isn't laggy at all. The only problem I would have is that it tends to get hot rather quickly if you have a bunch of programs open, such as itunes, photoshop, aim, and ffox. Great computer though. I recommend it. Also I would go for the 15 inch, 13 is a tad too small for me.

13 inches may seem small, but it is great. I would recommended the 13 or 15 inch MacBook Pros.

13 or 15 inch MBP is the correct way to go. Not sure about the configurations, but getting the cheaper 13in and jacking up the RAM.

Okay so it seems you guys want me to get the 13" or 15" inch Mac Book Pro. So I will watch out for a MB or MBP on craigslist.

    Thanks Guys

Don't buy a Mac. You can buy refurb laptops for 600 that have better screens and specs than the highest end Macbook Pro. It's just a waste.
