I just made a map that would work REALLY well with the neutral flag gametype... but i realized iT WASNT THERE?! Is there any other way of doing this?
The difference would be no explosion, and with a simulation of an instant flag cap using neutral bomb, you would die. Therefore Neutral Flag would be a useful addition, if rather specific.
It would be nice to have, and I have seen neutral flags in some modded maps so maby one day you might get them.
Actually, you could set the arm time to say 10 seconds, enough time to get away, but then set the disarm time to 15 seconds, so they still cant disarm the bomb before it blows up.
I had a map idea that used the Neutral Flag idea, the only problem with that you only have to make to your base where friendlies are. Making it much harder for opposition to catch you. So basically t would just be a mad dash to the center to try and get the flag, 180 and sprint back.
I have been wanting to make a Neutral Flag kind of map but there was never any gametype for it : ( Sad face
However if you did that you could not have a teammate ready to pick up the bomb on spawn right as you plant it, and anyone who died in that period would have respawned, so the gameplay would be completely different.
Yeah, theta you're right... that 10 second gap would allow the arming player to head back to the middle again before the point is counted. Perhaps you could try setting up a multiflag game but with both flag spawn points in the middle next to eachother, with FLAG MUST BE HOME TO SCORE turned ON. Heh... I think i just threw up a little in my mouth.
I don't understand why you would really need a neutral flag. It would be nice to have, but neutral bomb played out with 1 second armings such as grifball, is pretty much the same, but not as good. The only real difference is the fact that you die when you get the plant. I guess there can't be anything done to prevent it. =/
This is basically what we've been talking about in the last 10 posts. First, you reverse the plant zones to mimick neutral flag (because in neutral flag, you bring the flag back to your own base to score), and secondly, there are way around the dying but it effects the game play slightly -- which is what we're currently trying to circumvent.
