The ranking system stuns me.

    No video, just game details.

    33 Kills (1st place): Bungie.net : Halo 3 Game Details

Killing Frenzy (1st again): Bungie.net : Halo 3 Game Details

All of this was in MLG.

Alright, so I'm a 7 with about 12 experience at the time I was playing. After the 2 games of own, I don't go up, but instead gain 2 EXP, remaining a 7. When I get that amount of kills in any ranked playlist, I usually go up, so why not MLG? Is the MLG ranking system different then regular ranking systems?

You stay at your own level. If you play really bad people and win by a lot, but you really haven't improved, it doesn't move you up.

You only move up when you get better.

Doesn't mean that you got any better.

The system isn't that advanced. And the fail of Bungie's "true skill" system is already well known. Feels bad man =/

Yes, but that's how it is supposed to work... and even if it isn't perfect it usually stays mildly true to form.

The way the ranking system works is like experience in the final fantasy games. The higher level the opponent (relative to your own level) you beat, the more experience you get. The lower the level (again, relative to your own), the less the experience earned when you win. Once you reach a set amount of experience, you gain a trueskill level. Inversely, you lose experience the same way when you lose to these people.

If you doubt this in any way, look in the Halo 3 game guide. It's in there.

Yeah, but on Youtube I was watching one of Deranker's vids with him and a semi-pro who were playing in MLG, SpecialShot (The pro) being a 47, and Deranker being a 6. Even when they won, Deranker's rank NEVER changed from a 6. I find that if I get the most kills and go + during a game, I go up a skill. This happened for these games, and I'm still a 7.

    Lulz.

kills, K/D spread, medals, MVP. All these dont make you level any faster. You could go -20, win and lvl.

Basically Trueskill system is really ****ed up and best thing to do is just win =.=

On one of my 1-months, i had about 100 TS games played, won maybe 95% of them and highest skill was a big FML of 18

I find this actually weird for him.
My MLG account Do A Shanon, is a 47. And with 65 exp I believe. Anyway, I ranked up like crazy when I first started out with abouth those same stats.
The only advice I cn give is to play alone, without a partner/team. You'll rank up faster.

As with many of my high ranks in different playlists I usually go in by myself. I got my 49 in TS, 42 in MLG, 43 in Objective, and every other playlist I've gotten my rank by myself. Very rarely do singles get matched with a T04. While T04's get matched with T04's.

Took me 7 straight wins to go from 41 to 42 in snipers. 1 loss to go back down....

I find the system pretty messed up aswell... when I was playing lone wolves one time I got oddball on guardian and every1 was raping me. I never grabbed the ball once because my luck was so bad. I ended up probably going negative, and I took last place. But, all that aside, I went up! It was the strangest thing in the world, I went up a rank for coming in last.

Funny, I recently got up to a 10 with 14 EXP, just by going in by myself. And also funny, I got MLG Ball on Guardian and BARELY touched the ball (mostly stayed on s2 with the sniper), and I got up to an 8. Then, I just played some CTF Ons, and now I have a 10.

The game doesn't care how well you do. It just matters who is on your team, who is on their team, and if you win or not. You can go -20 and win and go up, or +20 and lose and go down. It doesn't matter.
