I totally agree with you. In Blackout, you can always be expected to be coming up from the ramp on S1/S2. It seemed like a new map because you had to redo set-ups and the Sniper Tower just seems too easily defendable. That's one reason why I'm not sure if Blackout will be in the MLG Playlist, even if the Legendary maps come out for free.

Also, the Library is a perfect remake. Mickraider, I'm glad you included the open window instead of that crappy glass window. You can actually use old BR tower/Library set-ups! For those of you who haven't played Lockout in Halo 2, the window was open in Library:

You can see a little bit of the window on the left side of the picture above.

    Questions:

    1. If you shoot the left Fusion Coil on Snipe 3, does the sniper fly off to BR side?
    2. Can you nade Sword from S2/S3 and knock it off the map? This was a popular opening strategy for locking down Sniper Tower in Halo 2 that I used and I'm wondering if you can do the same on Blockout.

    1) No, I've been working on the fusion coils. The issue is that by having 2 fusion coils up there the two explosions counteract each other and the sniper just sits there. It blows off nicely with 1 coil (like on blackout) but that would change the mechanics of sniper tower. I'm torn deciding which route would be better, and I'm still working in V2 to get it fixed but no promises.

    2) I'm honestly not sure, the sword has been nerfed so much in halo 3 that people rarely grab it anymore anyways. I'm assuming you could knock it off it's stand so you could probably knock it off with a well placed grenade

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    1. I can see that this would be a problem and it's cool that you're working so hard to make Blockout the perfect remake of Halo 2's Lockout.

    2. True. I'll download Blockout right now and I'll give it a shot next time I'm on and get back to you.

I highly doubt intelligence is the key point to what I was trying to say, Its just Halo 2 is a different game from Halo 3. The "point" may be what you said but, it seems that a new engine and a new game would never play the same as Halo 2, no matter the accuracy of the remake. I'm not trying to be a negative person towards this map, I agree it does Lockout an amazing degree of justice, but so does Blackout. Blackout may not be perfect but it did enough to feel like Lockout for my taste. In fact Intelligence has nothing to do with playing video games, I find it funny that you imply that you can judge intelligence over someone's opinion. It also seems unfair to act like I'm not saying this map isn't worthy to be featured, due to the tone you can only imagine when reading. If you had heard the way I had intended it you would know that I was praising the map, and just questioning Forge Hub. Although there will always be people who seem to dislike someone for there opinions, that is the basis of humanity. There will always be someone you disagree with and there is nothing no one can do about that, I just regret that I am the one you seem not to like.

Yeah, I think that the fusion coils power is different in both games. One isnt as powerful as the other.

Oh, yeah, Great map guy. Good job and gratz on the feature. Sorry that was so late.

I suggest you not smart-mouth me. You'll live to regret it. I've contributed more to the community than you'll ever do.

Now aside from that, you have some good points. Yes, it's very nice. It's well done, it's nicely forged, but it's basically just like a trace. You traced the image, and then gave it to the world for your own credit.

news flash! making sigs and talking **** isnt contributing jack **** to the website. I suggest you stay on topic, or better yet just stay out of this thread from here on out. both of you should check your vendettas at the door and stay on topic, for that matter. And that'll be the last of this matter that'll be seen in this thread. Infractions shall follow retaliations. Its over.

As for those who say that a Lockout remake in Halo 3 is stupid, then you obviously just don't know about the real beauties of Lockout, and just how lacking Blackout is when it comes to the details which really made Lockout special. The tactical jumps being the most prominent factor, as well as the altered and even some absent lines of sight left thousands (easily) still wanting. And yes, Halo 3 is a different game than Halo 2, with altered game mechanics and an altered sandbox, contributing to a different gameplay experience that, in most cases, can't be directly applicable to the same maps as its predecessor. But that still doesn't take away from the fact that people still miss that tactical edge and options for a more strategic gaming experience that Lockout offers, and Blackout, while still a great spiritual successor, lacks in some areas. People miss it, and people have wanted it back both long before Bungie bestowed Blackout upon us and after still. Blockout is, by a long shot, the most accurate iteration of Lockout, even more so than Blackout itself was/is. Its not a point that's debatable among those who are diehard Halo fans and who have a good amount of experience on all three maps in question (lockout, blackout, and blockout), or even those who only have experience on Lockout and Blackout. This IS the closest thing to Lockout that we have so far. And its NOT the same to play Blackout.

Is a Lockout remake necessary? Nope. But the same could be same about any user-created map created. Are they necessary? Not at all. But they do extend Halo 3's lifespan, and bring enjoyment to a lot of people.. which is the exact same thing that Blockout does. Blockout's DL count alone, even before it was featured either here or on XF, is proof enough that its a desired commodity, and the quality of the forge is top notch

It's stuff like this which makes a small part of me wish that rep was still around, these are exactly my sentiments. 'Trace' is a hardly a fair description either, tracing involves putting paper on top of an image and following the lines, if you think remaking a map to a really exactly level with, basically, set sizes of block and various flat things is easy, then be my guest and try it.

It's easy to criticise someone for recreating an already present design, true they didn't make it up themselves. But first off, this is a design not present in Halo 3 in it's most beloved form, true it's not original in design terms, but people still enjoy it in it's own right, a large number of people if download counts are anything to go by. And this is, really, all a map can have asked of it. If people enjoy playing on it, then to them it is a good map, and there are enough people who really thought this a special and amazing remake to warrant a Feature. At the end of the day you've gotta realise that maps are meant to be played and enjoyed, and if you don't enjoy it then fine, but don't begrudge others for doing so or claim their opinion on what makes a 'good' map (as if that wasn't a solely subjective label anyway) is less valid than your own.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, this map is awesome. Blackout isn't nearly the same as this map, and he did an awesome amount of work. You guys are crazy this map super deserved a feature.

For one, I did stay on topic. Two, I've helped out the G&A for ages now. Signature School, FH skin, etc. I also help out at the Customer service now. **** off.

Three, don't say the last word, then brag about how you're going to infract everyone who retaliates, like a coward.

Now Blackout has every tatical jump that Lock out had, and more. It's just the amatuers that can't do them. In fact, Blackout has made tatical jumping even better because of the more detail. Take it from a guy who does nothing but jump. Because in the original maps, you can ghost jump, ghost slide, etc. You can't do that in remakes like these because all the detail is taken out.

Now about how you guys miss all the details in Lockout, fine. Stay in the past. You have good points, and that's it.

Very nice map. Also a very nice remake. I like how you took time to make scenery. Also how you made places for nice jumps. It has a very fasted-paced gamestye. With new hidding spots and jumps I think this is a remake of Lockout than Blackout is. Very nice map. 5/5.

This map is great. I was pleasantly surprised at how accurate it was. My friends and I would always play MLG on Lockout and it was really nice to have this little homage to H2.

Congrats and thanks for the amazing map.

It's a really nice remake with most of the old jumps back, There were 5 old jumps I couldn't do but it would have been hard to implement everything lockout had.
