Now before I mention my idea, let me say i'm perfectly aware that this cannot be implemented into halo 3's forge and I'm not suggesting that it be implemented into ODST either. Its just an concept that I was wondering people's opinion on. So you know when you've selected an item/s to respawn 180 sec ( or w/e ) and not to place at start so you can merge with other objects..? Well my idea is that even though this item doesn't spawn until the selected time, it is visible at a transparency of around 40-50%. This would be that you could see exactly where your merging item will end up within the postponed spawn item. I know the technique of placing other objects as guides and braces is perfectly fine and I use it but this would save lots of time and you could see what the final result will look like even before the item spawns. You guys reckon this is a good idea? Any problems you could foresee?
Or just toggle an object's collision model so you can still see it and place it inside of other objects.
That'd work better but Bungie doesn't have much power over the Havok physics engine that they got for Halo 3. They might be able to do this, but then people would also want objects not to fall whereas some people would want objects to fall etc. I think your should just brace it as interlocking is an exploit as it is. they're more likely to patch the forge so that you can't interlock rather than allow the exploit to be more accessible. TBH I think the only reason Bungie haven't sealed up the forge glitches is because of this community and also because they're too damn lazy.
i wouldn't say they're too lazy, but they are making another game and getting ready to release a game. also they may be making a new game.
Like I mentioned, I'm not interested in Bungie including this but I was just wondering whether or not its a good idea. Also, why would they patch over interlocking? That would restrict forge so much and I'm pretty sure Bungie, aswell as the community, wouldn't want that,
also to add on to knarly's post; bungie uses merged maps online and have done it themselves! why wreck a good thing?
