i was wistfully thinking about a halo MMO today. how cool would it be to take the halo universe online, in RPG form?
its just an idea, but i think it has some potential, talk about it, post what you would want in it. :)

I don't think people would want a 7-foot super soldier who can totally kick the puberty out of you to walk around talking to random soldiers about 1.5 feet shorter than him.

LOL I'm partly joking. I don't really like RPG games, except for a few...

Apparantly, the Ensemble guys were going to work on a halo MMO after Halo Wars. However, since they fell to ****, I doubt it's going to happen now.

    I'd so play as a jackal ^^.

I think it would be fun but not as an RPG. If it just had some RPG elements like Fallout 3 that would be awesome.

If there was... I probably would NOT play. It just sounds like a remake of WOW and runescape which both suck IMO. Also, it probably wouldn't feel like halo at all, and would ruin it if you had dual fire swords or lightning that comes out of your eyes or something like that.

Im not to big on the idea of halo as an rpg. I mainly just dont want them to stray away the FPS and the way it plays. So hopefully halo:reach plays the same as the other halos.

It could work, with covenant, flood, and sentinels as enemies, upgrade armor and weapon, takes place on harvest or reach

It actually would work fairly well, RPG's have no limit on type or time period, because they can be built around any situation.

Just because fallout 3 has guns does not mean it's not an RPG. It has a full armor system, different weapons that get better as you level up. Leveling up, skills, SPECIAL (that's a big one, very similar to D&D's Strength, Charisma, Intelligence, Wisdom, Dexterity, and Constitution).

Since many RPG's stick towards fantasy settings, it would seem unlikely to see one in a more FPS zoned area, but alas, fallout is a very strong RPG, just as much as Bethesda's other child, Elder Scrolls.

I believe you are far corrupted by the mindless shooting and killing of FPS's that you do not understand that MMO's aren't necessarily fantasy settings with magic. Although some MMO's do have magic systems, and many do, if it doesn't appear in the Canon it won't happen.

Although this isn't a good example, because of the Force... but there will be a Star Wars MMO coming out soon, and that is not based in a medieval setting with "fire swords" and "lightning coming out of you eyes" It is going to stick to what the series holds, and just use regular force powers, and if you are a bounty hunter and such then you will use bounty hunter weapons etc.

Overall the Halo universe is so large that it would be seemingly impossible not to come up with ideas for an MMO let alone an RPG. With the many different soldiers, and even then different classes of spartans, different classes of marines, and even the covenant with their many species would allow for a strong MMO setting.
