I'm super excited for BF1943. ODST looks pretty good, too, but honestly I'm not generally a huge fan of all these sequels. 1943 is basically redoing and stripping down and refining a great classic and putting it on 360, an awesome idea.
I really want something other than an Acid Trip starring Mario and his butt buddy Luigi for my Wii. But it looks like that's not going to happen this year.... sadface...
Really? Mass Effect was one of my favorite games. Tons of cool weapon, armor, team mate upgrades and not to mention the best story/cut scenes I have ever seen in a video game. The combat was only ok I guess but the story and upgrades are what really kept me going and the combat is suppose to be better this time around.
The IGN demo video of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer looks phenomenal. I saw the rebroadcast today, and basically they implemented the Red Faction: Guerilla building destruction in a modern warfare game... amazing. They had footage of a guy hiding behind a concrete wall, and then someone shoots the wall and it breaks perfectly where it was shot. I can't wait for that game now.
This is how E3 went. 1. Sony: Showed new team Ico game, FF14, new MGS, other things. Probably the best. 2. Nintendo: New Metroid, Zelda and Mario. Vitality ruined it a bit. 3. Microsoft: Eyetoy.
Wow, they really have improved the destruction. It's not quite up to par with RFG, but it's still very nice. I wasn't sure if I was going to pick this game up, but now I just might.
gamespot's so annoying to watch the host is a complete ****tard who doesnt ask any questions and just babbles on about his ****ing children
I'm not sure if this was mentioned, probably was, but I think I need to mention it again. I don't know how many people here play computer games, or MMORPGs to be more specific, but I think that this one beats any old ones or ones that will be coming out soon. Star Wars: The Old Republic, anyone? If any of you have played the KoToRs 1 & 2 then you should know how awesome those two games were. Probably the two best star wars games made. Here's the video if you guys haven't seen it yet for SWOR. Star Wars: The Old Republic Video Game, E3 09: Jedi Vs Sith Cinematic HD | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com
Are you serious? Sony's press conference was an utter failure. Their motion control system pales in comparison to Project NATAL. The PSP Go is not anything to get excited about. They still don't have a release date for GT5. They announce FFXIV before FFXIII is even done. The only win for Sony is God of War III and MGS: Peace Walker. I will admit Uncharted 2 is good, and Mag is interesting. Nintendo's press conference was also pretty bad. 30 minutes of Vitality, 2 minutes of Metroid footage. They showed Wii Sports Resort again for 30 minutes. They spent 5 minutes total on Mario. They basically didn't talk about anything that anyone actually cares about. They didn't even announce the new Wii Zelda at the press conference, IGN had to get Miyamoto to talk about it at a round-table event later in the day. Microsoft had a great show. They showed Project NATAL, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Shadow Complex, FFXIII (the one that is actually coming out at some point in the next 10 years), Modern Warfare 2, Forza 3, and Left 4 Dead 2. Microsoft was the best, Nintendo in 2nd, and Sony in 3rd. Edit: http://video.ign.com/streaming/e3-2....com/cms/publish/vod/vodclip/foxign/5553.qvt# Is the BF:BC2 demo
I just hope Natal turns out to be as bad ass as they make it seem. If it isn't able to accurately read the players movement 100% of the time, it will fail horribly. It's a bold, but dangerous move on their part. If done right, I think it will be wildly successful depending on the pricing point. My guess is that they'll start bundling the unit with the core 360 and price tag it at $250 to compete directly with the Wii.
Lol ICO project looks ridiculously stupid, and ICO fan boys are ridiculously stupid. FF14 will be meh and everyone knows it, not to mention it's rumored 360. The MGS was psp who cares? The good stuff sony did unveil: FFVII, Uncharted2 demo, GoW3..they failed on their shortness of GT5 though. Also, sony unveiled crappy new Eyetoy, not MS. Nintendos was laughable and painful. A crap attempt at a Mario, zelda wasn't even at their conference (spirit tracks doesn't count), and Metroid looked of but it wasn't salvation. GS was the only dece thing honestly. Natal aside, MS owned in exclusives and awesome previews. L4D2, Reach, ODST..plus awesome FFXIII footage, MGSR, Forza3. Natal added in MS won hands down. I think you just like to troll HPM
I have been thinking about NATAL for a bit now, and I have a theory: I am guessing that NATAL won't be ready for retail for at least another year. This brings up an interesting question; will Microsoft release its next console (which you know they have to already be hard at work on) before NATAL comes out, or shortly after? I think that NATAL is really going to be the defining feature of Microsoft's next console, and Microsoft just demoed it on the 360 because that is what is available to test on at the moment.
NATAL was built to specifically work with Xbox 360 and all of it's games. Journalists got to play Burnout Paradise (unaltered) with NATAL. It's being marketed as an accessory, so what is the sense behind releasing it for the Xbox 360 after a new console was made? No, we are probably 3-4 years away from another generation of consoles (or so I hope). Developers are starting to get creative with consoles, and the improvements I want to see done to them have come in the simple form of downloads and accessories. Sure, this generation has been around for awhile but I like that. I want to be able to enjoy my system thoroughly, so there is no need for another console.
I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I was saying it will be an addon for the 360, but it will be the big (and built-in) feature of Microsoft's next console. I doubt we are 3-4 years away from the next generation of consoles. If you think about it, the games from this generation that are good are really stretching the limits of the current consoles. Call of Duty 4 was a tight fit on the DVD (for the 360 version, anyway, the Blu-ray was practically empty). Also, if you look at games like Halo 3, they really push the console as far as memory usage. Microsoft definitely is already working on a new console, and it might not be out next year, but it will definitely be out in 2011. It will have a built-in hard drive this time around (there is a real problem with the Arcade unit because it doesn't have a built-in harddrive, which places HUGE restrictions on developers), and will probably have a built-in Blu-Ray disc drive. It will probably have NATAL built in as well, even though NATAL is an add-on for the 360.
Actually, most of the time, the games can be optimized rather then needing a bigger space or anything to that degree.
Optimization and compression can only get you so far before you start losing quality. Even just looking at the polygon count that a PS3 game can produce vs. a 360 game is pretty stunning. The big advantage of Blu-ray is that you don't have to really compress anything by very much (for a standard game anyway, not the same for MGS4), so the graphics can be really high-quality.
Wow! Polygons are those things that make everything pretty, right? Where exactly has a games polygon count really mattered? Where has the PS3s graphics superiority really been seen. I've never seen these so claimed superior graphics. They've always been to just about the 360s quality.
PS3 exclusive graphics are notably higher quality than the 360's. It's the Blu-ray disc that makes the difference, and until Microsoft gets a hold of Blu-ray or something similar, they won't be quite as good. Of course, most people could care less about graphics in the first place.
I think all of them did well. Nintendo showed off Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: The Other M, and Super Mario Bros. Wii Sony showed off God of War III, MAG, Mod Nation Racers, Uncharted 2 (the beta is insanely fun btw) Microsoft showed off Splinter Cell: Conviction, NATAL, Halo: Reach, Halo 3: ODST, Alan Wake, etc.. I'm just happy to be a gamer right now.
