This variant of The Pit started as a simple redirection of the combat flow, but quickly snowballed into a full-scale reconstruction of the level which drastically increased player mobility and combat dynamics.

With the simple additions of some steps...

... the map was ready for testing with the help of some of my friends. each game allowed us to scrutinize each and every item's placement and determine whether it would make the cut. After vigorous internal testing, the map is finally ready for testing by the community, and is potentially a release candidate, with all gametypes working properly. Have at it, y'all.

Post here, PM me or add me on xbl if you have any questions, comments, or just want to have a good game on the map.

It looks interesting, so I'll download and hopefully come back with some good input soon. But first, you might want to add things to your post (I do see this is your first post here): A list of additions/replacements in the form of text, which would be much easier to read, a list explaining which teleporters go where, and possibly an overview of the pit with symbols for the new weapon placement, which would allow readers to get the idea of your map at a glance.

Wow, this looks like a great Pit variant. I'm pretty much at loss of what to say, and my eyes actually hurt from not looking at sandstone-colored blocks with a juicy filter on for once. Anyway, the map seems like it is a good idea, but I would recommend toning down the weapon sets a little to help promote better gameplay, and not just a power-weapon fest. The spartan laser seems like it could work well, but the other power weapons like the fuel rod seem unnecessary. Also, you should add a weapon list to the post, as well as supported gametypes.

    Oh, yeah, welcome to Forgehub!

Is there a cache of map overviews (not the small and gray heatmap overviews, but large enough for notations and labeling) and weapon/equipment symbols here on the site? I haven't seen any universal canvases for anything like that yet, which would be indespensible for mapmakers.

The map has been through a good deal of pre-release testing with my friends, some of which have helped with the map's design and production from the beginning, and others who have only played a few games, and anything that anyone has pointed out has received our immediate attention and since been rectified and reexposed to testing.

The Fuel Rod Gun (which upon spawn contains its hefty amount of 20 shots, but has a run-time max of 1 and a 180 second respawn, and thus a tendancy to disappear from the ground shortly after the previous weilder's death) is actually quite a pivotol part of the gameplay, since the player undertakes such a great risk by even venturing into that hallway, but could potentially come out with a weapon capable of taking on the world.

The inclusion of the Fuel Rod Gun and Spartan Laser are the reason why the map was given it's name.
