    The City V3

    MAP:Right Here
True Zombies (recommended): CLICK THE BLUE STUFF
    Wimp Zombies: YOU GO GIRL!
WTF Zombies: OK, SERIOUSLY. WHAT. THE. F&%*.

*Just a heads up for those who've already seen this map, I'm focusing on the altered map/gametype combo. The City V3 is pretty much the same except with cheat spots fixed. Scroll down for the new creamy goodness.

Get ready for an infection experience that will excite, frustrate and arouse you, all at the same time! For those of you who remember Township, this is basically the super-expansionized steroided version of it.

    This is The City

For those who haven't, this map is a large city aimed at testing your survival skills and teamwork.

The game starts off with the humans spawning around the center building. You have no teammate waypoints, no radar, and a puny little plasma pistol. Since that obviously won't cut it, you're given 2 minutes to prepare for the impending zombie apocalypse. Scattered throughout the buildings and streets are weapons, which you'll have to scavenge for. Here's a view of some of the streets:

An area of importance for scavenging is the ruined building. What was once a thriving cliche'd gun shop in the map is now mere rubble. You'll have to work together to bash in the entrance, to get the goodies inside. LIKE A PINATA =D.

I asked the Dirty Jobs guy to do an episode on The City, but he said he wished to keep his brains inside his skull.

Once you've got issues of weaponry sorted out, You'll now have to worry about setting up a defense. While The City DOES have less buildings than Township (8 usable buildings vs 9 usable and 3 mini ones, They are:

    1. Much bigger in area than Township's and
    2. 4 of them have 2 floors.

So, no more worries about sharing that Sardine can with 4 buddies. However, these larger buildings also come with more ways to get in. Some entrances will allow you to waltz right in, some require crouching to get through. Some of the 2 story buildings have rooftop entrances too. While we're onthe subject, here's a few looks at the interiors of the buildings.

The pictures right above and below are of one building.

The pictures right above and below are of another building.

So, we've now got enough weapons to supply a small army, and a nice secure building. Now it's time to test out their defenses.

While you are wandering around preparing yourself for them, the zombies have spawned way up high in a box, where they can view you scurrying around like ants. After 2 minutes, the previously mentioned zombies get released . They have 90% speed instead of 75%, and have slightly lower resistance, but still retain their shields (which don't recharge). They also have no radar, and their damage is tailored so that if they've been hurt badly, you CAN win a beatdown with them. This is assuming you're playing with True zombies. Wimp zombies is an "easier" version of true zombies. You get a pistol to start, and zombies have about 1/4 to 1/3 less health. With WTF zombies, it goes to the other direction. Zombies have about 1/4 to 1/3 MORE health.

When the round gets down to the last man standing, they will get (if they aren't immediately spanked by the zombies) a 125% speed boost, and a friendly little waypoint over their head for the zombies to see. This is the portion where the zombies must corner and devour the last man. It's very frightenly, horribly, hilarious.

TIME FOR EXTRAS GO GO GO!

To the left is a normal building. to the right is.... Pimp Building.

L4D Zombies Map and Game Variant

    MAP HERE

    GAMETYPE HERE

Introducing the altered map and gametype, for those who start twitching with impatience by the time the 2 minutes of prep are up, who aren't satisfied with even 100 zombie kills... L4D Zombies!

The map is basically the same except for a few key changes:

    1. Storeroom is wide open. Grab the guns and go!
    2. Corners are blocked.
    3. Most buildings have extra/more open ways in.
    4. 1 minute prep time.
    5. Zombies spawn every 3 seconds instead of 5.
    6. Oh and of course, 50% of people start as zombes!! MUAHAHAHA!

The gametype is the real changed thing here. Zombies are at the same health roughly, but are given a speed boost, up to 150%. So you've got super fast, tough zombies, with more open buildings and only a minute to think of a plan? Screwed, amirite?

Nope. You've got overshields, baby! You've got enough health to take 6 shots from the zombies before you croak, and it doesn't recharge. Once you hit no shields, your next shots sends you to zombieville. These changes bring a radical change to the gameplay. Expect to CONSTANTLY be charged by a relentless hoarde of pissed off zombies. Better bring enough ammo!

    Here's some video's of what it's like:

    YouTube - L4D Zombies 2
    YouTube - L4D Zombies
    YouTube - L4D Elite

    And again, le shoutouts:

    - Thanks to Bl00D F1R3 for making The City video.
    - SilverOrange for the pimpbuilding idea
    - Gypsy for urging me to do the storeroom/weapons idea
    - Render to video for letting me show mah purty vidyas.

I played this with a larger party the other day at XF's Weekend of Win. It was pretty hardcore. You did a great job with both this and the original, Township. I myself have made a city Infection map, so I know how hard it is. I really like how you made the destroyed building look. That is, in fact, destroyed.

    EDIT: Woot! First post!

Oh cool, I'm actually in all three videos on the bottom!

Did Silver's body actually do all of that after I killed him?! WTF?

Well, I must say that I like the V3 more than the other versions of this map. It's simply more fun to play on, especially if you have a good camping spot like we did in the L4D Zombies 2 video. Plus, the zombies only have to wait a minute to get out now, and they don't have to die anymore.

Keep in mind the L4D map/gametype are a BONUS. You can still play the old way, which is fun too. L4D just gives people a faster paced option.

I helped test this like eleventy billion times! Or four... anyway, the gameplay is way faster paced and I'm glad you fixed the cheat spots. This map is pretty much perfect now and the gameplay is addicting and never gets old. I also like how you made the third entrance to the building with the two slit windows. That used to be the most used building. I think I was in the first video of the bottom three videos. You are truly a genius to make such a well built map and a well playing one too. Incredible Job.

    Wow, amazing post.

I can't say that this is original; I attmpted it myself on Foundry once (and failed). But it's definitely one of the better ones out there. It actually looks like a street, notjust some random buildings everywhere.

Definite download from me, I like strategy Infection games.

Third, and The City V3 has mainly raised the roof entrances up to avoid people buddy jumping or triple jumping out of them. The corners are also somewhat blocked to prevent people from hiding the corners, and the two-story building beside the destroyed building has had a minor alteration to the bottom floor.

The L4D map and gametype are altered map and game variants with the purpose of making a faster paced game. It has preparation and strategy in it, but not so much as to frustrate the 10 year old in all of us ( And especially the 10 year olds themselves).

    Pretty sweet :)

I also like your obscure pictures. That makes the post a bit more "original" than others.

I had fun testing this with you, especially the left for dead variant. I still think you should do a custom powerup health pack in the middle, I really like how you pretty much changed the whole point, from camping to running in gunning.

    You make Uncle Larry proud!

Wait, you're Uncle Larry? Wow, I never knew!

Also run and gun at your own risk. Inside buildings the odds of an assassination are slim. Outside however...

Thats is the way to do it. overshields with no regeneration. It is always balanced. Even if the zombies are weak they can still make progress. Invite me next time you play it.

Since you decided to post BOTH variants, I'm tempted to ask: Which variant do you like better?

Me personally? Well for large groups I prefer True zombies, because you have enough zombies coming at you to keep you busy, alongside the fear of "If just one gets at me... I'm f#&@ed". As a zombie you also need to think smart. Rather than dropping down and rushing aimlessly, you can get a group reaady outside a building, and do a huge zombie raid, nabbing a guy (or ten) in the process.

But for small groups or those new to the map, L4D zombies is amazing. It's pretty easy to learn, if you let zombies in you don't get completely spanked for it, and it gets the action moving faster. Also, most of the time I die as a zombie thinking not " omfg we'll never make it 10 feet into the goddamn building" but rather " Just a couple more hits and we've got another zombie on our side!"

Dude you sent me invites to test and I ignored them, I feel so stupid! This looks vella fun, but should I replace the original city with this map and have all the variants or what?I'm going to view your vids, I did some rendering myself :). 5/5, I'll check back with you later after I studied for exams.

the ruined building on this map seems akward with walls around it. My suggestion would be to either delete the walls or cover the roof with walls but still allow a hole through the roof.

I don't understand what you mean, zombiecow. The purpose of the building is for it to be awkwardly shaped, it's a ruined building. Those holes are also not possible to fit though, the only way in is through the entrance you either hit in (normal map) or walk into (L4D variant).
