Sandbox Sting

    STING

    *UPDATED*

    I have not had a big run though with a lot of people on this map, so I'm hoping to get a response from you guys here on this forum. This is my first map that I have actually spent time working on so be nice.

    Sting is a map that uses the main ground level of Sandbox. The map is a symmetrical as I could get it. It's not perfect by far. If you want to change something about this map, go ahead and do it, and post it back in this thread.


    The game type that I had planned this map for was capture the flag. The weapons on the map are...


    • BR x6
    • Carbine x4
    • Mauler x2
    • Rocket Launcher x1
    • Missile Pod x2
    • Frag Grenades x6
    • Plasma Grenade x14
    • Power Drainer x2
    • Over Shield x1
    • Warthog x2
    • Mongoose x2

    Also if you notice anything that I messed up on please tell me what I did so I could fix it. Thanks.

    Alright so I added

    • Spawn Points
    • More Structures/Cover
    • Also I added 2 Snipers with half ammo
    • and more fins lol

    I like the mini bases and each end and the general feel for the map. The weapons have been well chosen aswell. But a cause for concern is the general openess about the map. You should add more structures or cover as from the pictures it looks lke you should have alot of budget left. This map has great potential and I like what you have done with the fins

    The link works fine, unless your gamertag isnt something like "EERM"

    anyways, the map looks very open in some parts, but when you do have cover it looks really good. I just notice one problem. You've taken the picture in forge, but aside from the 6 spawn points at each base, I can't see any respawn points on the map. correct me if im wrong.

    2/5 if there are no respawn points
    3.5/5 if there are.

    That was a concern I also had when I was finished. There was plenty of money left over. So if I can come up with a good structure that will work well I will add them in. Thanks.

    @Runic Aries

    I tried to use spawn areas. Is that bad?

    Respawn areas dont mean "people will respawn in this area", respawn areas are used to give proporties to respawn points so that only one team can spawn there. its a common mistake for beginners, but you need to throw in respawn points or else the only place people will respawn will be those 6 points at each base making for easy spawn killing

    Oh, ok. Thanks for explaining that to me. I was confused about that. I'll fix that ASAP. When it's fixed should I just update this thread?

    ya. that would be best, atleast you asked instead of fixing it and making a whole new thread for it like some people do.

    This looks like a great overall CTF map, but it just looks way too open. The bases are also pretty small, that might damage gameplay. Also, there is barely any cover anywhere except in the middle and the bases. The aesthetics are lovely, but it just doesn't look ot play well.

    I like it it has a simple feel to it yet it doesnt go overboard with vehicles or weapons.
    My score out of 10 would have to be...

    8/10. I like the idea and if there was ever a V2 id personally think it was great but i think its missing its special something

    On topic:
    The map aesthetically is okay, although you used a lot of fins... A lot of the structures are interesting... or maybe it's just the fins that make it LOOK interesting?

    Also, why do you have 2 of the same pictures, and I don't see any respawn points?..

    EDIT:Nvm, I just read the other posts, and yes don't use respawn areas, you'll still need respawn points.

    this looks much better than before, ill give it a 4.5/5 for apperance and ill DL it for gameplay testing
