I have RRoD. Yeah, I could send my xbox to Microsoft, but guess what. I voided my warranty. It wasn't my idea. -_- I figure here are my choices. a)Fix it myself. Cheapness: 9/10 Probability of Working: 1/10 b)Send it Microsoft with Glued on sticker that shows if the warranty is voided. =/ Cheapness: 10/10 Probability of Working: ?/10 c)Buy a new one. Cheapness: 1/10 Probability of working: 10/10 So here are my questions. 1. If Microsoft finds out it's voided, do I get it back, or am I out $400? 2. How can I un-void it? 3. How is an Xbox Arcade, seeing as I already have a hd etc.
your best bet is cutting your losses sell your xbox including power av cables maybe one controller if you must, keep your wifi adapter or ethernet cable, hard rive, etc and buy an arcade for $200 they are beasicly the same excpet no chrome disc tray i think.
How exactly did you void it? EDIT: If you did something like the towel trick for example, you can still send it in. There's no way for Microsoft to notice, and I don't think they even bother checking. However, if your warranty ran out, I suggest just sending it in for 100$ or buying a warranty from a video game store like Best Buy or Gamestop. Those work out quite well, especially with the way the 360 acts up.
An Xbox Arcade is an xbox with a small memory unit and a controller. It costs $199 (was that what the "how" refers to?) and it also has some arcade games. If you're going to buy an arcade, I would risk sending the console in since you're going to end up with a new one anyway. I don't think they'd "steal" your xbox from you though, so you could try fixing it when they ship it back.
I was afraid of that. I don't have $200. I voided it by opening it. I wasn't sure if it would be a good replacement. So it works the same? I can still play xbl etc.?
If you close it back just like how it was, you should be fine. Its like opening a jewelry box and then closing it - if you closed it like it was it'll look fine.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can slap your HD on the arcade and it'll be the same as a regular xbox. But if you're out of cash then, well idk. :/
Stick it back on. Or make a replica. Making another sticker or fixing the one you have now is most definitely cheaper than 100$ to get it repaired.
They are exactly the same, except the little extras that come with it (hard drive, etc.) I have an arcade, (yes I'm cheap) and I just bought a hard drive, mic, games, subscription, and all that later. It ended up costing more, but what the hell, I got it for Christmas from my mom.
wow man you dug yourself into a hole here, just get a job or earn money somehow and yes the arcade functions exactly like the pro except for the extras(hardware) that come with the pro .
I would just buy another one. Or if your main prob is your power brick, just ask a friend who doesn'tplay much to let you borrow it. (How mine was fixed.)
yo this happened to me... the arcade is $199.... steep but manageable and it work wonderfully with my old HD so that is my recommendation!
Well if you're gonna buy a Arcade, you might as well try to send it back with a glued on sticker. Does anyone even know if they actually repair your own Xbox, or if they just send you a working one?
if its an easy fix then theyll repair and refurbish the one you got. If its beyond repair they send you a new one. I remeber when mine came back all shiny just like new, good times...
