Hi guys, been forging since yesterday and been having a lot of fun and getting extremely frustrated all in the same 5 mins. Started making a map on sandbox, which I'm calling connect, and the basic layout is two bases either side with a connecting bridge with the bridge going diagonal across the map. So I need a little help with two things. 1. I'm struggling to make a hollowed out base with two levels. I've achieved a mess of a base so far by stacking objects up then placing a floor above and deleting the stacked up objects afterwards but its really fiddly and extremely annoying. Any tips? 2. As you can see from these photos I will need to merge some building parts into the terrain, I have no idea how to do this. Anyone got a video tutorial they can link? The bridge so far, I'm ok with it considering its my first time at forging. Thanks for any help in advance, I'm really getting into this forging business. Sorry if this is in the wrong section, i couldn't find a better place to post it. oh knarly.
It is in the correc section and here is a good tutorial for merging it in the ground, I know it is not a video but it is still quite good in my opinion and helped me ALOT for geomerging on sandbox. http://www.forgehub.com/forum/halo-forge-discussion/62143-merging-sandbox.html
Ok great that seems pretty simple to follow, thanks for that. Just need help with making a hollow base, anyone got any techniques/tips? Edit: Actually, thats just for merging objects into flat ground, what about to the side of the hills n sandbox. I'm thinking of something similar to utah mambo where the buildings are built into the hills surrounding the flat ground.
you brace them the same way but instead of forcing it down from the top, you brace the top, leave a side open, and push it to the side and into the hill. its a bit trickier, but not too hard.
Kay, will give that a go. Still having problems with the base, I'm trying to create a curved wall but then its impossible to get the floor/ceiling to curve in the same way. I'm guessing interlocking is the way.. still if anyone could help..?
[/SAVEQUIT] to get stuff to float, anywhere, use the save/quit method. what's the save/quit method? it basically is a simple procedure: 1. spawn your item in place, rotated however you want it. 2. pause, and save+quit While still holding your object in monitor mode 3. when you get to the menu, enter the game again. 4. when you get back to the location where you were forging, your object is floating in the position you put it in. you can also start a new round rather than save+quit, and then you don't have to re-enter your map. there is a lomit of 32 rounds, though, so still save often.
I'll tell you how to make floors the same height of a box. First spawn a double box on one of its rectangular sides. Place immovable objects (these will be called the braces) on top of the box and on the sides if needed. Delete the box. Place a man cannon underneath the braces so the flow is being directed towards them. Place your floor underneath the top brace and wait until it stops moving. Delete the man cannon and the braces and you should have it done pretty quickly. But please be aware that forging can take a long time to do things. You can also use Eculc's floating method instead of using the man cannon method if you want to. If you can't figure it out, you can send me a friend request. My gamertag is MousseMoose
Thanks, I understand how that will work and will try it next time I'm on my xbox, thanks for all the help guys. Time to forge! Yeah I've done this but its almost impossible to get a flat roof/ceiling consisting of many objects through this method or so I've found. Tried this and the object just merged with the object on top which was bracing it and not into the side of the hill. I'm having trouble with anything that is not at right angles. I have achieved geomerging on the flat floor as practice but i can't remove it, is the only way to revert back to the previous saved point?
Merged. Don't double/triple post, use the edit button. Try saving just as you do it. It helps, and seems to save it before it can realize it wants to start freaking out all over the place. You should be able to grab it...if you used an original item from the map, it's a little weird...if not, just try starting a new round. First rounds in forge have some weird properties.
