    Dune Buggies v2

Made by: Prodigious 7k (vehicles, bridge, ramp and little man cannon things) and Master Jamster (zombie spawn room and tunnels).

This is the second sandbox remake of one of the first maps I made, ever. It was on Sandtrap and i made it way before I had even heard of the drive or die and hulk etc. maps which consisted of humans in vehicles running around Sandtrap, trying to get away from a super fast zombie with a grav hammer, Which is essentially what my map was.

I personally think my gametype is better than all of the other variants of this game I have played (but thats a mater of opinion) for one simple reason: the zombies actually have a chance . On some of the other versions the zombies died in one shot so one guy could hold off a horde of zombies for ages without stepping foot in a vehicle and being invincible while on a warthog turret, which was, horribly unfair and boring for everyone not holding the gun. My one is better in my opinion because the alpha zombie has normal health, bad camo and an overshield while the normal zombies have bad camo and normal health; Therefore giving the zombies a good chance while still being able to be killed.

I made this map because my first sandbox version got loads of stick for not having any structures in the map. So here is the new version. It contains many new features that where not present in the old version. I have explained these further down.

For those of you who haven't played the original, this is how the game works:

The humans spawn in an area above an assortment of ground vehicle, slit up by a blue light.

The zombies spawn in a box in the sky bubble.

After 10 seconds the 2 tiny blocks become a touch door (you touch them and the door opens). This allows the zombie to reach the teleporters on the other side...

...which go to one of the 8 reciever nodes dotted around the edge of sandbox (,the number of nodes makes spawn killing almost impossible).

The aim of the zombie is to kill the humans while the humans have to survive the zombies attack for as long as you can by driving as quickly and tactically as possible. The last man standing gets 4 points.

Below are some of the new features of version 2:

The man cannon jumps add a quick escape for the humans but also help the zombie by showing where the people are but also they can be used as a way to get very high to see the whole map to scope out targets.

The jump and the tunnels are also beneficial to both sides. The humans gain a way to hide briefly and get a quick boost, while if they miss the tunnel or crash the jump it gives the zombies an opportunity to kill them. The tunels can also be a good point for the zombies to ambush the humans.

The Bridge offers an alternate rout over the centre of the map for the humans while being a good ambush point for the zombies and, if the zombies knock them off the bridge they have an easy kill.

    Vehicles on map:

    • 4 Warthogs
    • 2 Ghosts
    • 2 Choppers
    • 2 Prowlers
    • 8 Mongooses
(All vehicles on 30 seconds respawn and all spawn at the start of the game)

    Advantages of the Sandbox version:

    • Most of the map is in shade so the faster vehicles like warthogs and ghosts with lights can be seen more easily than the prowlers for example so there is no advantage to the people who go straight for the ghosts.
    • The map is the whole of Sandbox which includes the guardians area so the map is much much bigger than Sandtrap and with no buildings to crash into but massive dunes to jump over so allows more flowing while unpredictable and exciting gameplay.
    • The overshield for the alpha zombie is not as much of an advantage as on the Sandtrap version because it allows the zombie to be seen clearly against the shadowy border, however they can still sneak up on the humans by hiding behind the large dunes.
    • There is no possibility for camping in the buildings (as was a problem in the old version) because there are no buildings.

    Extra information:

    • There is no honor rule as such, you can do whatever you please.
    • For a stylish kill why not board the humans or get into the passenger seat while you are a zombie (however, you cannot drive the vehicle if you are a zombie).
    • Map made by Prodigious 7k (me) and Master Jamster (who made the zombies' spawn box and tunnels).
    • The map will work with Drive or Die style gametypes but i recommended that you use it with mine for reasons I have stated above.
    • Plays well with 4+ players.
    • The last version had 2 placed on the map where you could be shot by the guardians, I have fixed that.

    Thanks to my testers:
    Master Jamster
    TULLY13
    Diluted Juice
    Andy (he has no gamertag)
    Marauding Puppy
    and many others...

Please comment if you have anything to say about the map, any questions about it or if you have advice for a future version.

My gamertag is Prodigious 7k if you want to get in touch, give feedback or add me as a friend.

when i looked at the first version i was like 'a little forging and wont be as goood as sandtrap version'

but i love what you have done to the map the bridge is awsome but couldent you just tell your mates to get on the bridge and defend it with the cars we get at the beginning

even though this is very unoriginal this i a good map

but next time you should try to come up with your own ideas

    4/5

After play-testing this map and helping create it I can tell you that the camping method on the bridge that was suggested in the previous post would not work due to the fact that zombies have gravity hammers and if they use this underneath the bridge any veichles above will be knocked off leading to a quick death.

In my opinion this map is completely cheat-proof as we have played it with large parties with 10+ players for nearly a week now with the new map and I haven't witnessed any faults in gameplay.

I would also advise anyone planning to comment on this thread to read the description and a least play the map before giving any critisim as a lot of the map's gameplay cannot be expressed until you've tried it.

    nice one

The map looks very well made and finally somebody got rid of the gaurdians, I would have probably done something like that, but there's no way I would even consider making a brigde like that, dude that is sick, I know the map is a bit open, but it's zombies, smooth and I don't know how the gameplay is yet, but I'll definatly find out.

And a little tip; if you were to make a new version of it then try making a road out of stone platform at list 2 side by side every bit forward, it looks awesome and it would fill up the map greatly, I made a dionagilly curved line from one corner of the flat field to the opposite.

And try linking your map and gametype together, it makes stuff really easy to download, anyway it's a great map and I'm downloading it.

Good map. Dune buggies works far better on sanbox with no guardians as there is such a massive area to drive in and the dunes make encounters with zombies more funny. Brilliant map for dune buggies variant and awesome added bits frm the original sandbox version you made. Really fun map very much worth a dl from everyone.

It's okay, but like d4rkdemon said: can't the humans just camp on the bridge? (although you could just add grav lifts so the zombies can get to the centre on foot)
Also, if the zombies can get in passenger seats, why don't they get on a prowler/warthog turret and shoot the humans?
But I do like the bridge and the additions. Just a few suggestions:

-Make the vehicles never respawn so once people pick their vehicle they have to stick with it.
    - It's worth saying that the Gloomy FX makes it really hard to see outside of the map. Just an idea. I'm not saying that you should constantly have the effect on if you put it on, maybe just have it spawn after 120 seconds to make it harder for the last few survivors.
    - Give the zombies 50% gravity (what are the zombies' traits?)
    - Make like a gridlocked-esque setup on the inside of the map. Make it big enough for humans to get through in vehicles, but give them no mercy when they try to turn a corner...

Also, 46 downloads is good! I guess the view number is due to people searching for the sandtrap version, seeing your version and then remembering they don't have the mythic maps.
    I'm gonna DL though.

The bridge looks great, but the issue is the game. It's kinda fun at first, but drive or die games kinda loses it's appeal after a couple of rounds. One guy drives and gets no points, while the gunner gets all the glory. A dog can only chase it's tail for so long...

    Zombies cant get in turrets
    they do have 50% gravity
all effects make the outside completely pitch black and unplayable.

yeah that is a problem with this sort of map but with a large party you can go for a game or 2 with alot of fun before it gets tedious.

Well, judging from the description, pictures and comment from someone who tested it, it looks like this map is completely cheat-proof. That alone makes it worth a DL, but the gametype you created seals the deal. This is going to be one of the first things I DL when my 360 comes back.

You are correct, the map is complely cheat-proof because there isnt really anything to cheat with, the only possibly ways of cheating are coverd very well so the humans only have one choice,RUN. As for the guy who tested it, he also helped make the map and help me with ideas aswel as spending alot of time testing with me. I am also very proud of the gametype because it works perfectly with this map. Thanks for the comment

Yeah the touch door is essentially a pressure switch on the side, which i thought is quite an amazing idea because usually pressure switches arent useful at all but here it works really well. You have Master Jamster to thank for that, him and his geneis little forging mind
