    Dune Buggies

    Base map: NO GUARDIANS by caboose 16

    Dune Buggies was originally one of the first maps I made, ever. It was on Sandtrap and i made it way before I had even heard of the drive or die and hulk etc. maps which consisted of humans in vehicles running around Sandtrap, trying to get away from a super fast zombie with a grav hammer, Which is essentially what my map was. I personally think my gametype is better than all of the other variants of this game I have played (but thats a mater of opinion) for one simple reason: the zombies actually have a chance . On some of the other versions the zombies died in one shot so one guy could hold off a horde of zombies for ages without stepping foot in a vehicle and being invincible while on a warthog turret, which was, horribly unfair and boring for everyone not holding the gun. My one is better in my opinion because the alpha zombie has normal health, bad camo and an overshield while the normal zombies have bad camo and normal health; Therefore giving the zombies a good chance while still being able to be killed.

    When I found a Sandbox map with the guardians covered I was very excited to make a version on Sandbox and so far I haven't seen a similar style map on sandbox (send me a link if you know of one), so here is ours.

    For those of you who have no idea what i'm talking about here is how the game works.

    The humans spawn in an area above an assortment of ground vehicle, slit up by a blue light.

    The zombies spawn in a box in the sky bubble.

    After 10 seconds the 2 tiny blocks become a touch door (you touch them and the door opens). This allows the zombie to reach the teleporters on the other side...

    ...which go to one of the 2 receiver nodes hovering in the sky underneath red lights.

    The aim of the zombie is to kill the humans while the humans have to survive the zombies attack for as long as you can by driving as quickly and tactically as possible. The last man standing gets 4 points.

    Vehicles on map:

    • 4 Warthogs
    • 2 Ghosts
    • 2 Choppers
    • 2 Prowlers
    • 8 Mongooses
    (All vehicles on 30 seconds respawn and all spawn at the start of the game)

    Advantages of the Sandbox version:

    • Most of the map is in shade so the faster vehicles like warthogs and ghosts with lights can be seen more easily than the prowlers for example so there is no advantage to the people who go straight for the ghosts.
    • The map is the whole of Sandbox which includes the guardians area so the map is much much bigger than Sandtrap and with no buildings to crash into but massive dunes to jump over so allows more flowing while unpredictable and exciting gameplay.
    • The overshield for the alpha zombie is not as much of an advantage as on the Sandtrap version because it allows the zombie to be seen clearly against the shadowy border, however they can still sneak up on the humans by hiding behind the large dunes.
    • There is no possibility for camping in the buildings (as was a problem in the old version) because there are no buildings.
    • There is no possibility for spawn killing the zombies.

    Extra information:

    • There is no honor rule as such, you can do whatever you please.
    • For a stylish kill why not board the humans while a zombie (however, you cannot drive the vehicle if you are a zombie).
    • Map made by Prodigious 7k (me) and Master Jamster (who made the zombies' spawn box).
    • The map will work with Drive or Die style gametypes but i recommended that you use it with mine for reasons I have stated above.
    • Plays well with 4+ players.

    Since it's pretty much an empty map, can't really say you forged much of anything. You made the area the zombie spawns with a touch door which is cool, but other than that you placed some vehicles, teleporters, spawn points and wedges and called it a map? It's really not much more than a canvas map when it comes to playing the game. I'd put some structures in the middle that you can drive over... maybe some ramps and jumps. No structures that you can run into and come to a stop, but structures that you can drive over from all sides and angles to keep the flow going..

    you cant technically call this a forged map because you have hardly done any forging and the things you have forged are the teleporting door at the start and placed a few items so humans can run away.
    i'm sorry to say this won't get my download.

    suggestions for v2:

    ~add some structures within the centre and around the outside to make it more interesting while driving.
    ~Make it slightly smaller i think sandbox is slightly too big to have this without it getting boring easily.


    please consider these suggestions. if i download for a closer look i will change these suggestions.

    thanks for the comments. i wil make a v2. the map isnt too big, it works suprisingly well. scenery in the middle is agood idea. thanks

    how can you say its spectacular its just a blank sandbox pretty much and you overrated it and just running from zombies the whole game is kinda blan try adding some buildings and weapons also try adding the gloomy effect to give it that scary feeling. otherwise ill give it like a 3/5 just take my suggestion im saying you don't have to because it your map do what you want with it.

    thanks for the advice. i am making a version 2 as we speak so any suggestions on how i can improve it are welcome.

    edit: i am about half way through the version 2 and have a large jump in the middle of the map and a massive bridge over the centre of sandbox. if you have any other suggestions for scenery i could put on the map to make gameplay better than please send me a personal msg comtaining your idea. thanks

    I think I will have to hold out until v2. One suggestion I have is possibly making teleporters for the zombies so that they can get accross the map quickly. Sandbox is very big.

    i think its very original although u did not do much id recomend u make a little scenery in the middle so these guys stop giving you a hard time : D

    Nothing really Original, in the first week of Halo 3 Released i played this Exact thing in SandTrap, the map seemed like it took under 30 minutes to make. alot of people do find this fun but i lost interest in these types of maps long ago.

    Version 2 is very near to completion, i want any last minute comments and improvements you have to offer. i would like to say though that killballs and effects are not going to be used in version 2 under any circumstances, and i have aded a jump in the middle and a bridge over the middle (featured in the picture before).

    It took about 2 hours before it was completely finished. The end was a ***** but yh im pleased i did it because its a good feature to the map.

    Put killballs below the jump. If you fail the jump, you die. Also add mancannons that act as shortcuts for the zombies and fun for the humans.

    Can't wait.

    No, no kill balls! if a human is being chased they can fall into it on purpose and escape, making it very hard for zombies. And you'll have to see about the mancannons because i have added a cluster of things using mancannons.
