    Archaic first started out when my good friend Goatnutts420 asked me if i wanted to make a map with him. I was a bit hesitant at first since i hadnt seen many maps from him but i decided to take my chances and forge with him. Originally Archaic was supposed to be a 4 floor asymmetrical matchmaking style map. We decided to switch themes about 1/4 of the way through, we wanted to create one of the first good MLG maps on Sandbox. Archaic has been 95% done for the last month but both me and goat got tired of forging around that time. Luckily I had some good friends who pushed me to finally finish this beast of a map so I decided to stay up until 4 AM last night finishing it.

    Version 1.1 Changelog:
    Added in bridge between mid and s1
    Removed hiding spot behind s1 to s2 jump
    Removed nade jump opportunity above s2
    Changed timer on red OS to 120 seconds
    Removed column above s2 entrance

    It is a 2 floor asymmetrical semi enclosed skybubble map. It consists of 4 major areas. red lift, blue lift, rockets, and sniper. It was designed with team slayer and oddball in mind but later on we found out that KOTH is its best gametype.

    Teams starting spawns are at their corresponding lift color.

    Rockets is more of a roomy area of bottom with 3 ways to get up to rockets 2 they are: red lift ramp, blue lift ramp, and the jump up from bottom rocks. Its a little over a block huge higher than top red and top blue.
    Rockets spawn at rocks 1 right next to the jump up to rocks 2. they spawn every 180 seconds with 0 spare clips.

    Sniper 1 is more of an enclosed area on bottom but top sniper 2 is a block huge higher than top red and top blue. There are 4 ways to get up to sniper 2: stone bridge s1 to s2 jump, top red lift ramp, top blue lift ramp, and s1 to s2 ramp which is inspired by s1 to s2 on guardian and the outer walkways on Epitaph. This ramp wraps around the outside of the map and sniper spawns every 150 seconds with 1 spare clip at the bottom.

    Many BRs standard MLG time
    2 carbines standard MLG time
    1 Sniper drop spawn; 150 seconds; 1 spare clip
    1 Rocket Launcher drop spawn; 180 seconds; 0 spare clips
    1 Red OS spawns 120 seconds into the game above bottom mid

    Kind of reminds me of guardian a little bit. Nicely forged, looks like it should be a nice MLG map and also I like the fact that you have distinct call-outs as well. Nice job.

    Althought, I would of liked to see a mauler to add to the arsenal, or maybe power-ups. I'll give it a DL, from the looks I give it a 4.2/5

    It looks like a mixture of a couple of Halo maps from Halo 2 and 3. I really like the layout of the map, it flows really well and it also has a pretty good balance. keep up the good forging

    This map looks like you spent an imense amount of time on it. I admire the dedication. In fact your dedication shows how well thought out it is.
    I agree with jpitty though, you should add a mauler other than that, I don't see any flaws 5/5

    this map sorta reminds me of a parking garage with the multiple layers and all of the ramps it seems more like an asymetrical ffa map then a team map though casue i could see some nice oddball or slayer brs on this winding multi layered map
    very nice 4.75/5
    wish you woulda shown wear all the weapons spawn

    This is like an Epitaph and Guardian mix with EPIC win sause spilling every where out of it. I love it! Gameplay is awesome. Great use of tacticle jumps. I do think this MLG Map is feature worthy, this will be on my harddrive until... Hell I dont know, Great map tho!

    The way you used the tubes as a ceiling is really cool. like others have said, you should add a mauler on the grassy part. On sniper two, you could put a blue light to add a bit of color, and sniper just FEELS blue :). No red lights though, it makes everything look weird.5/5 you have my DL, ill look at it and i really want to see or find some places that i like or would want to change, then give you feedback. Keep the good work :D

    I love this map! This map just oozes competition and matchmaking. My favorite parts are probably the sniper windows and the lower level. Also, i love how that you made the ceiling tubes, its so unique.

    Overall, the entire thing is amazing, and maybe even feature worthy. 5/5

    And thanks for the good feedback guys, i honestly didnt expect that coming from forgehub, no offense to you but some poeple dont know a thing about constructive criticism.

    @Skanky Toast: We will be adding in a blue light to sniper, itll be situated under the ramp sniper spawns at. The mauler wont work though since oddball spawns bottom mid.

    This looks extremely well built. I love the multiple ramps and pathways present here.

    Personally, I don't think the Rocket Launcher is a good weapon for this map. I recommend removing it and replacing it with a mauler.

    As for the sniper, 150 seconds may be enough but 0 spare clips? If you ask me, I would set it to 120 sec (or even 150) and 1 spare clip.

    Add some red and blue lights to the red and blue bases respectively.

    Wow! This map is awesome. I'm not into MLG but I'm very glad I downloaded this map. The pics are good but they just don't do it justice. First, I love how you made an asymetric map with symmetrical qualities(sort of like guardian). The lines of sight seem to be perfect, well, maybe not perfect but they are very good. Love the fact that there are varying levels of elevation and multiple drop-downs and ways to go up levels. Putting up lots of handrails was a very good idea imo. They make it seem more professional in a way, I guess. Will definitely be playing some games on this and keeping it for a long time. I might have just found a new favorite FFA map. Excellent job, 5/5!!

    wow, this left me speechless when first saw it. Its insane, very neat and very well executed. The gameplay on this is setup to be fantastic will dl and edit my comment on how it plays!

    Oh my bad haha, the sniper has 1 spare clip and the rockets have 0 spare clips.

    I was about to say that same thing. Btw hezbolla you make me seem like such a bad kid in the original post, but you already know that. Sorry about the last month.

    Just so everyone knows there will be a v2 of this, I dont know if hezbolla mentioned that in the post.

    Are we still on for 8 my time tonight? I wanna start getting some stuff swapped out.

    Oh and you should check out the MLGpro post, it had like 50 posts before Zanno deleted the ones from Salot's little *****.

    Edit: Oh and BTW, were already at 175 downloads goat! It hasnt even been a full day yet!

    Holy ****ing ****, do I love this map. I just played some 1v1 and it played beautifully. For both of our first times on the map, it was very easy to navigate and the sight lines were very well executed. My only nitpick would be to connect the middle section to all of the areas on the bottom, but it still didn't detract from the overall love I have for this. I can safely say that there aren't too many maps that stay on my hard drive now that we're all so close to the xbox content limit, but this one (or it's successors) will stay on my hard drive for a long time to come.

    Not only is this a well-forged map (minus a few z-fighting issues), it plays better than most of the maps that I've seen built on Sandbox. Fantastic job, gentlemen.

    By connect the bottom to all areas do you mean connect s1 to the middle, if so that is in the plans for v2, if not please let me know what you mean.

    Thanks a bunch. I believe we have played some customs before with the MLG forgers, i vaguely remember meeting you in a game of Avarice slayer.

    We are debating adding the bridge, we will most likely add it in but its not a definate yet.

    If you have any ideas to improve gameplay besides adding in the bridge be sure to mention them to me. I want us to make this the best we can. Oh and btw Squid this map already has quite the following on MLGpro, it has just surpassed the post count of Baron's map Solstice. Hopefully this will put me on the map.

    I just realized when i saw that Goatnuts was the co-creator that i saw this map in its very early stages and was excited about it then as well!

    I just played with squid and i share his thoughts on the map. theres not much point in me re-typing everything he just said. i agree about the bottom mid.
    It is expertly forged and should gain some popularity due to that, as well as the fantastic gameplay.

    Great job, I will not be deleting this from my lineup at all.

    I do, sorry for any confusion. I should have looked at the pictures you provided before I posted my response, as I didn't remember the correct callout area.


    I do believe we've met a couple of times. I know we've been in some XBL parties together besides actual playing.

    I've noticed the recognition that you've been getting over on MLGpro, and I wanted to comment here in hopes of getting this map more exposure to the FH members. This is a very worthy download and I'm looking forward to seeing what changes you do end up making.
