I read through the F101 topics and I didn't see anything pertaining to this, so here goes... Is there a way to make it so only one of a given number of territory markers is active at a time? For example, I want to make a map / gametype where the attacking team must push through a tunnel-like structure, capturing the territories in order. I set the Spawn Order setting on each territory marker, but I guess that only sets the numeric label on them? I know this kind of thing can be done with the escort points on VIP. Am I overlooking something or is just not possible? My first post after lurking for quite a while. :happy:
I haven't used territories to many times before but i would also really like to know the answer to this question. Maybe you could ask a mod and get a "F101" made about it. This would be some usefull info. for territories makers.
No its impossible. This is one of the flaws of conquest. Maybe you could make like doorways that open after a certain amount of time to stop people 'skipping' terretories
Try using King of The Hill instead. You can order the hills. This many not be the best idea for your gametype, but it would definitely focus the map on one section after another. Although, you say your map is one-sided. This may be a problem. Also try using VIP with destinations. Make it so after the VIP dies there is a new one.
I thought about this but it could make it tough for the defending team to get to the active territory. And if the attacking team couldn't capture the first one quickly enough, they'd be able to go at multiple territories at once anyway. I might try to make this work. I didn't think of using King of the Hill. That could work, but it might be hard to make it jive with the gametype and map I'm envisioning. I'll look into it more closely though. I also thought about using VIP Escort points, but then, obviously, the VIP would have have to get to the marker, and there is no way to make a capture time with those. It's always instant. That still might be the best way to do it though. I wish it could be done with territory markers. :-( Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Hopefully I'll figure something out. If/when I do, I'll be sure to post it on here. Maybe you guys could give me some help playtesting it?
How is your map set up? Have you thought of changing some of your geometry to make it so they have to go in order. Or you could use timed events.
It is set up linearly, but it would still be possible to skip ahead as the attacking team, so I fashioned some ghetto door-type things. EDIT: Accidentally clicked submit before I was done. Here's a diagram of my door things: ........| ........| ....../ | \ ...............(This is the attackers' side.) ..../.. | ..\ ...^ ..^ ..^ ramp wall this ramp spawns here after 45 seconds to enable the attackers to get over the wall.
