Why don't you ask God himself, eh?

You're going to have me say "no" then tell me that I wouldn't be able to communicate with God right? Either way, I'm not saying no. Do you know what prayer is? Do you know what the Holy Spirit is? In the case that you do, you should already know the answer to your question.

So all comments after this, Where is it Taught that God was Lonely? Clearly God was not at all Lonely because he wanted to create something does not point to the idea he was lonely for sure. It is actually thought that God was Inspired or With his own passion for creating things did Humans become Created.......

So can we Get past the debate of Talking to go? I think it is clear enough God can Hear, but Humans lack the means to Understand and hear god. So Can we get off that topic? And maybe back to a debate of something acutally on God? I seem to notice that comments like Can you talk to languge of God as a sTUPId question based of it was really random and has no point in saying Yes or no...

YES, you know how to talk to God's Secret own language does that prove anything?

No, well not many people do, so does that prove anything?

    Numberitized for convienience.
    1. My point of saying all that was just to make you think of reasons why God would want to create us. If he is sentient, why would he just decide to create? He can't be bored, because if he is omnipotent then he should be able to control his emotions. If he is non-sentient, then why would he feel anything? Why would we even pray to him then?

    2. Debates aren't centered on simple "yes/no" questions; otherwise, that wouldn't be a real debate. I'm not sure where you're coming from with the "let's go back to debating God" thing. That's what we're doing.

EDIT: Psst, hey you below poster! "spartin2000"! That's not the point!

    Eternal

I understand the concept of happiness, and I am arguing that without anything to compare it too, there could not be eternal bliss.

I posted about this a few pages back:

I said something similar to this way back.

Eternal pain and eternal happiness can not exist, read 'Ode on Melancholy'.

Why, oh why did you start this topic?
I'm an aethist myself, but the problem is you cannot prove or disprove God.
Techniqually, you cannot prove or disprove anything, but we don't really need too go onto that level of thinking.

Are you saying the bible proves god's existence? I believe we have already proven through the last 60 pages that the bible does not prove god. It may make you believe in god but it in no way proves the existence of god. That goes for all the other religions up there.

Now, lets look at this another way. I think you are trying to say, "Since the diverse cultures around the world believe in a higher power, god exists." Then I would have to say that it is in human nature to try to explain what can not be explained because we are deathly afraid of the unknown.

It wasn't odd back then. Its what they HAD to do. Obviously now its changed but now you don't have to have sex with your sister just to keep the world's population of 5 growing.

I think my reply can answer both paragraphs. Both of us believe differently on why most if not all of the indigenous civilizations in ancient history have deities. You believe that they all believe in different gods, but that god is the same entity. I believe it is human psychology (as stated in the previous post).

And I don't think that having no afterlife is a comforting thought. You would just stop existing. It is in human nature to try to live the longest and use all available resources to quench our insatiable hunger (in this context I refer hunger to knowledge), or power hunger. Knowing that all I have done and ever will do won't really matter is very chilling.

    Jonah

Let's start with the the man surviving inside of a whale for 3 days.

"Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights." -Jonah 1:17 (King James Version)

"And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land." -Jonah 2:10 (King James Version)

Let's see how you handle this one before I throw 50 more in your direction including the insulting, misogynist concept of women being created from the rib bone of a man.

True, God may still be real. But as you agreed, there are contradictions; why should one believe the other stuff? You don't know that God appeared to Abraham, do you?
    :D
Do you know why it's bad for people to have sex within their families?
And if God is omniscient, wouldn't he see all this coming? Why does sin seem like such a surprise that he has to punish everyone with a flood? Unless, of course, he wanted to flood everything. Hmmm... ?

But, wouldn't he foresee all of this happening? He would, should know what giving people free will implies. And if you think we have free will to sin because of original sin, well it's still God's fault. Nitrous has a blog that explains this; the tree Adam and Eve ate from gave people the knowledge of good and evil. So they wouldn't know what they were doing was wrong since they had no knowledge of good or evil.
