As the title says, What's up with all of the puzzle maps?!?!? More and more puzzle maps are coming to forge hub with the same exact puzzles! Wall clip after wall clip! It's old! To be a very good puzzle map maker like myself, you have to think of your own ideas! You can't just do the same boring routine over and over again. Original stuff really gets people thinking because its never been in a puzzle map before. Original stuff makes the map hard to complete. Original stuff like throwing a deployable cover on top of a floating weapon holder, then jumping on top of it (I just thought of that on the top of my head, i might actually put that into my up coming puzzle map lol) Really gets people thinking! How do you guys think about this?
Lol besides that horrendous sentence structure, I rather enjoyed some of the puzzle maps. Once I downloaded a lot I began to observe the repetition. I attempted to design a puzzle map, I've wanted to ever since I got forge. Problem is, I can't =P. I always end up with a half complete map and absolutely no ideas, and no new tricks. The other thing I don't like is maps that rely heavily on glitches like equipment jumps etc. Glitches that some people may not know how to do. A puzzle map quite simply, should consist of things that the average player can do, to allow the average player to attempt to complete it, while at the same time offering an edgy challenge for more skilled players. Tough, I know, and easier said than done, but that is what constructs a successful puzzle map. Best of luck on your upcoming maps, and I'm downloading your puzzle map now (bet I can't finish =P).
Lol, thanks for pointing that sentence out. I make puzzle maps to challenge the best of the best puzzle makers. So i try as hard as i can to make my puzzle maps as hard as they can be.
To start out, that deployable cover idea is not original, I've seen it plenty of times. Everyone starts somewhere. My first puzzle, I didn't have much original stuff because I just started out. The puzzles that have been coming out aren't that bad. The best puzzle quality in my opinion is enjoyment. If I won't enjoy it, I won't continue playing it no matter how original it is. Then it is originality, but that usually won't keep me from playing it. Difficulty also effects enjoyment because if you make it extremely difficult, only the hardcore puzzle doers will enjoy them. All in all, the puzzles that have been coming out have been pretty enjoying, so I play them. And to be a good puzzle maker requires much more than original ideas.
I agree with the post above. I DL'd the puzzle of the original post and sadly couldn't figure the last bit out. SO I went to Forge and dissected it. Fun stuff. But I've only actually finished a few puzzles, usually because there's no hint as to what to do, and it can be rather frustrating at times.
