Welcome To: This abandoned crypt is all that remains of what once was a colonized safe haven for those who existed in a time when machines ruled this planet. BY:: Back Story: Over the last several maps I have forged I based my designs mainly on floating giant structures and creating a landscape with in these structures to obtain competitive gameplay. When I first saw the layout of sandbox a little over two months ago I realized it was time to change it up a bit. Zion is my first map that is genuinely normal considering the fact that it's inside the barriers of the actual map. I didn't leave my eye for aesthetics behind though as you can tell when you view this map, I wanted to do so much with this and was confident that I would have the amount of objects to do anything, but I soon sadly found that there is an item limit that halted my forge designing before I could use all that glorious scenery, I guess I figured I could use them all up like in other maps. Other wise I think this map would have taken up the entire crypt. Because of the fact that I was short on items I had to sacrifice certain things like grenades and other weapons and also a few spawns. But grenades can be unlimited if one so chooses so why waist the items when your crunching for every last item. From what I could tell this map has the most sceanery on it out of all the sandbox maps that have been on forgehub thus far. Because of this I could only create one game-type and thats Free For All. I feel that this trade off is well worth it because anyone that plays this map says that it's one of the best FFA maps they have played. Over all I guess I dreamed too big for this map, I wanted to make a good team map, but in the end I got the best FFA map I have ever seen on sandbox.. So no sacrifice no reward I guess. Goals: I guess in general I really wanted to forge on sandbox, mainly because it was just so overwhelming, with it's sheer size and limitless possibilities. I think I wanted to show forge-hub that I could do more than just float maps. Actually I feel that experience enhanced my ability because when your floating a map like the maps I have created you have to work twice as hard. I think that I will learn more from this map, and I feel that I gave it a good amount of time considering it took around 220 hours. Well there you have it, all in all I just wanted to show that I was capable. Weapon List: Rocket Launcher x1 Brute Shot x1 Mauler x1 Carbine x2 Battle Rifle x4 Shotgun x1 Sword x1 Equipment List: Cammo x1 Overshield x1 Regen x1 Bubble Shield x1 Grav Lift x1 Here are some layout pics, but because it's located in the crypt it's hard to get the far out pictures so one can get a much better feel from playing it. Remember this map only works with FFA game variant, enjoy! Please feel free to leave your comments and advise and cast a vote if you like. Thanks and hope you all enjoy. Download ZION
w00000000t. It's out. It looked really nice this morning, glad to see you finished it! I really like the life and the power drain spot, just the fact you made a really nice map in the crypt with the curved walls and all is perfection. Btw in case you didn't know about the object limit, don't delete spawns until you want rid of them at the end, that way the object limit stays intact. FIRST
cool looking smooth and i like the flow of the map every picture looks great good post but i personaly think if you were to give more to your description then you would be a really nice post. good map ill try it out. (some time)
nice, sorry that it didnt work out exactually the way you wanted it, but i guess it did turn out to be a good FFA map, and i love FFA. anyways, i do like the map, smooth, different layers, even the death ball, which im geussing you can get killed just by that small area. it could be nice to get some wepon lay out if you dont mind, i do see the sword though, but good job, im downloading it
I just zipped around on it in forge for about 15 minutes, and from what I've seen, it's pretty far off from your other maps CORRUPTION, and I like that. It's not outside the barriers for one, and it's also not floating, so that makes two. I loved the layout, being that it is only FFA. I loved the structures, and the weapon layout. I loved the use of the kill ball. But what I loved most about this map is the fact that it towers so high above the default floor, and still works. There isn't much cover on the ground floor, but the towering structures above it make up for that. The middle structure that holds the rocket launcher is very aesthetic. And the pipes with the mancannons in them are a beauty to. The way you pulled off that double box with the interlocked energy shields is amazing. I hope to get in some games on this map with you CORRUPTION, that way I can rate the map fairly, rather then poorly.
Thank you all for your comments, I really hope you enjoy the gameplay. I will be adding a few more gameplay pictures asap. Thanks again hope you enjoy.
another frickin' awsome map dude, keep it up and i'll have to buy another hard drive and here's ur 5/5 rating
Well, what can I say? This is definately different than your other maps, such as Cliffside, but that doesn't make it bad. I think the layout is cool, good for FFA, and that Killball is pretty. The Grav Lift is sweet aswell. Nice Interlocking and Geo-merging! It looks perfect. I'm gonna give this a solid 4.5/5 for originality.
C0RRUPTl0N, I'm very glad to see that you've made the transition from Avalanche to Sandbox well. I did a forge-through, and this map looks very unique. I'm not always a huge fan of lighting effects, but you used them very well in this map. A couple places are a little dark, but nothing serious. The geometry is stunning, and I never though a map of this size would fit in the Crypt. The lines of sight on this map are perfect, and it makes the map feel huge. There are so many different areas to fight in/on. The map feels like it was built for FFA. My only complaint so far is the kill ball. I hate kill balls. I use a Turtle Beach headset when I play, and the sound of the kill ball is extremely annoying. I'm not sure what it sounds like through TV speakers, but I can't stand listening to it through my headset. You can hear it from almost every part of the map. Luckily I can delete it myself during forge Excellent job, I've got to go call all of my friends to tell them to get on later today so we can test this! EDIT: I forgot to mention that the interlocking and merging is flawless.
Checked it out in forge and it reminds me a lot of a map i am about to release after some more testing! Similar layout and verticality. PLEASE tell me that you fixed the fact that there was only 10 spawn points on the map? you need like 50 more than that with a play area this size....
good try. i will check it out in forge later. but i think because of the pics you should remove the kill ball. i will take a close look later.
Yeah, I had to sacrifice them, and all I have is like twenty or so I think.. Lots of them are starting spawns that will only appear in certain game-types. But yes I do plan to devise a way to have more re-spawn points, I just wanted to have the map structure as nice as possible.. I found that when I tested it, the map ran rather well kind of like stand off with the way I put the spawns.. but thanks for the advise its just that there is so many objects and putting spawns in would take away from the scenery and really effect the whole map. I wanted to give the gamer the chance to play on a gigantic map and thats why I used all that scenery, I know it was a sacrifice but thats what I en-tended.
Excellent. Iplayed this and it seems like you took like 800 hours on it great job dude. definitly feature worthy. 5/5
Well I didn't quite put 800 hours in, as a matter of fact this map only took a little less than half the time of cold fusion, but I feel its way better in that the map it self is huge and everyone that plays ffa on it loves it. I feel the more people that notice it the more will like it, but thanks for the complement.
All I could tell you is that this map is very flawless. All of your merges and interlocks were set up to perfection. When I played this I thought the map had flourished and thrived in its game play features and its durability. Also I love the asethics on this map toverall the map is forged to perfection.I love it Corruption.
as you may have noticed with my map, Lucifugous, not having enough spawn points is a very bad thing. with a map of this size (entire crypt) even 20 spawns would not be enough, in my opinion. not trying to hate on you by any means, the map is good and very well-forged, but the last thing that you should ever sacrifice when making a map is the spawns dude... you need those.
yeah, I know, I feel that I could make a few changes. I actually had an idea of how I could iron out some of the item population problems. But, for the most part I only will get about 30 spawns total, so then maybe I can stick some in needed places. I just want it to flow well.. But thanks for the input man. Also this was mostly because I was just so far along when I hit my item max that I had to sacrifice spawns.. A mistake I wont let happen again, I have a better picture of what kind of size I can make a map on sandbox now..
if you use an OLN canvas, and delete all the scenery, leaving just the weapons, vehicles, spawns, and all that sitting there, you will run out of money before you hit the item limit, and still have 70-something spawns sitting there for you to use.
I'm indifferent on the juicy effect, but everything else i am incredibly pleased with. Geomerging always deserves props if done right. i love the giant power cell you made with the shield door and the main man cannon tube you made was awesome. the size was perfect. i only wish it would be capable of more gametypes, but either way, it was executed very well. 4.5/5
Sorry to break it to you - if that hasn't been done already, but the name "Zion" is already taken: Zion
