For all the people out there that draw or talk about how your map will look i urge you to post in this thread if you would like me to sketch your map up to give the community a first look at your map, or you can be a greedy one and keep it to your self. Im not doing this for money or anything stupid like that, im just doing this to help out the community for you have helped me out so much! Also i will tell you if it is possible to make the map with the amount of objects it will take and the amount of money. I will also, tell you what, and how many of each object you will need. Rules? Dont Spam! We only want people that need sketchups made, and maybe a little bit of feed back on the map designs. Any other topic is prohibited! hmmm If I gave you a not very, but closely scaled version of a map, in a drawing program such as AutoCad, could you recreate it in sketchup?
Sure can but read the rules please. it tells you everything not to do. base the map off the rules and you'll be set.
sorry... =( this is no offense to you but this seems very very silly... If someone has an idea in their mind but are too lazy to sketch it up you doing it for them doesn't help.... reason being that its a waste of your own time chances are we'll ignore half of what you make and just use our original concept... maybe this would be better if you just make a sketch up and give it to us forgers and we make it... you sketching up our projects is silly... sorry...
Hey, I am making an MLG map which is called MLG Darkness. It is a symmetrical map with two alike bases and two sides that are different. The middle will have 4 vertical towers with them being connected. I want to have the sides wih angles down toward the ground and connecting to the bases, and then with walls barely sticking out of the walkways for cover as you walk. I also want cover along the ground and two arch ways that come from each angle of the map that connect in the center of the map. Ok he's not giving you ideas, he's helping you do a sketchup of your map so you can budget it and make sure you don't hit the OLN on sandbox maps or run out of money before you can finish. As my co forger for my map, he managed to 1. build a main tower using only $80 on sandbox, 2. design an even more kick ass tower using sketch up that even helps save 4 objects. So don't say that he is changing your original concept, he is making sure that you can pull it off without running out of objects or hitting the OLN. Hope this clears it up.
Ok so help me think you want two diangle cat walk that arches up and back down to meet in the middle? You want the four middle towers to connect together kinda like a roof on a house? (30 degree angle so you cant walk up or down it just in case some one manages to get up there.) ALSO- you might looks like one big hight, so when you say goes down toward the ground and connecting to the base im guessing you mean you kinda want it like Amp where it dont touch the base but its right next to it??? please clear this up.
i didnt say he was making his own maps.... i said he should.... it would be more helpful... as he can't read our minds so sketching up OUR ideas would be kind of difficult.... please try to comprehend the whole posted before you quote, because its annoying having to explain myself twice..
The fact is, many people don't know how to use sketchup, or have a computer that can't run the program that well. I, for example, have real trouble even loading up the Sandbox canvas Sketchup file to start using it, making putting my ideas into a well planned form a real trouble. I hope to GOD that Nemi doesn't see this since he'll have a field day, but it causes my Mac to lock up without fail, even if 'force quit' can save it in a way Windows could never even hope to achieve. It also seems that he's got a good mind for logical problem solving, making his advice when planning, tweaking structures to be object/OLN/Budget efficient, very valuable. Planning is quite probably THE most underrated aspect of Forging, and a thoroughly planned map is so much more likely to be effective and well laid out when it actually comes to building. If someone is offering an informed perspective and experience with sketchup, probably the single best planning tool we have at our disposal as Forgers (especially with the Foundry/Sandbox canvas and component set files that are available), then I for one am not going to criticise it. The whole idea of cooperating on map designs/builds is an appreciated concept in other map design circles, and I' keen to see this extend in to Forge, I think it could really facilitate some truly great projects. I'm considering taking you up on this offer, since I have the aforementioned problems even loading up the Sandbox sketchup canvas on my low-spec Mac. I'll try to get a very detailed and labeled series of diagrams down and send them to you, see what you think and see if you can help me with a sketchup. As a heads up it's gonna be an MLG Hill map, very loosely based off the end to end concept of Narrows but shortened and widened to facilitate end to end movement without it being a constant tug of war over top middle. I'll let you know if I get the proper drawings done and ask if you want to take it any further, but either way I think this is a valuable service, and if anyone disagrees then just look at it like this: This guy is trying to help with a very valuable stage of Forging, and has clearly thought out how he's going to go about it. If you don't like his proposal then no one is forcing you to take advantage of it, just let people do what they're gonna do and do your own thing.

If anyone is interested in Adopting a map that i have just finished sketching up please message me for full sketchup or if you dont have it more vivid picture. first message to me gets it so pretty much hope your online. this map contains ONLY of stairs, blue/red columns, and red/blue light. sounds dumb? not really. It can hold N Bomb, Team Slayer, and Team Flag. Note: This is a MLG map. But if you would like to cahnge some settings just for fun, GO FOR IT! it would be your map! =D. Also map is for 2v2 and or 1v1. And if you think your looking at it wrong... No buddy its smaller than a quarter size of the crypt. BUT I have thought through it greatly and I promise it will play great! Also of course you would need to make the other 2 walls to block off. and there is no reason to make it breakable since you have a TON of money left over and object limit. lol Designers Credit Please!!! Thanks dude but if he dont want what i offer then let him be if he dont want to take advanage of what i have to offer then let him chose what he wants. he is probly just saying it because he already knows how to use it. i understand fully what he is talking about but he just didnt read it as we have. but thanx for the support. =]

I got you a tough one here but I am sure u can do it, or atleast attempt to do it, it is a 3 story mansion with 2 balconeys, if you have any questions plz ask because I am sure it can get confusing because I didnt do the neatest plan, but I tried to type a lot of it out.
