A: The maps will be judged as a whole for the overall winners, but there is room for "special" fun categories like best of each map. Q: Are we allowed to use FX and/or lighting orbs? A: Yes, light orbs are ok. I would be careful with the FX though, they tend to make maps look much worse, and harm gameplay. Q: Is a BR an acceptable switch for a HaloCE Pistol? A: Yes, this counts as the original layout. Previously Remade Halo Maps Lockout/Blackout As you can see, the two maps share immense similarities. They are near reflections of one another. Only tiny differences separate the two maps. A reskinned image, a few missing jumps and the addition of some specific Halo 3 elements such as equipment. All of those things aside, Lockout/blackout is a wonderful example of a successful remake. Hang 'em High/Tombstone Slight weapon variations, and a reskinned image are the only major differences. Certain areas may very in size to small degrees, but for the average everyday player, the maps are quite assuredly brothers. There are many other maps that have been remade in the both Halo 2 and Halo 3, which many of you will know as Blood Gulch, Chill Out, as well as spiritual successors such as Avalanche. This contest aims to focus on direct remakes, so spiritual successor styled maps will be disqualified. I have two questions: 1. Are we allowed to use FX and/or lighting orbs? I am trying to be very accurate in my remake, and the default lighting just isn't right. 2. If we are remaking a Halo: CE map, should we change the pistols for BRs? I think that the BR is closer to the Halo: CE pistol than the Halo 3 pistol is. I know you already said we could change the weapons, but I don't want to lose accuracy points or anything.
Pistol for BR is fine change. Lights orbs are a definite yes, but I'd be wary on most of the filters. They tend to make your maps look like ****
Yes, the judging template is still in the works, and will be better decided upon based on the style of entries, but when all is decided you will see the category scores.
The more gametypes the better? I am going to have trouble with this one because I have placed so many objects and now I cannot even add a spawn point let alone a flag spawn. Also, can I switch out a needler for a spiker? Needlers are much stronger in Halo 3 than they were in the previous games.
After May 14th obviously. They aren't going to rate the maps until the competition closes and all maps have been submitted, otherwise scores may be biased on who submitted their remake earliest. Also suppose someone submits a great "20/20" remake. Then someone else submits another "20/20" remake of the same level. They can't both win, the map scores will be slightly dependent on the other maps.
You need a few gametypes, 3 is the minimum. I'm assuming you didn't didn't all your spawns, but if you did..you are probably SOL. Deleting all the items on the map costs you about 350 items. Also, yeah spiker is a fair switch. Below Yep you are.
