Elysium Created by Sikamikanico Elysium: I set out to create what I felt to be the perfect objective style map, and this is the result. The main goal was to create something that could be played on foot without feeling like a constant marathon, and yet could support vehicular combat. I urge everyone that doesn't want to see the Team Objective playlist die to give this a try. Some of you may see a hint of an older Halo map in Elysium. One of my favourite maps from the Halo series was Sanctuary, and while this isn't a remake in any sense of the word,it does pay tribute to it in a few ways! The map itself features the following Weapon Load-out: 1 x Active Camo (120 seconds) 1 x Overshield (120 seconds) 1 x Rocket Launcher (90 seconds) 2 x Bruteshots (60 seconds) 2 x Plasma Pistols (45 seconds) 2 x Sniper Rifles (120 seconds) 2 x Shotgun (90 seconds) 4 x Carbine (30 seconds) 8 x Battle Rifles (30 secs, 2 located in the bases are 20 seconds) 2 x Needler (60 seconds) 2 x Regenerators (90 seconds) 2 x Power Drain (90 seconds) 8 x Plasma Grenades (10 seconds) 2 x Machine Gun Turrets (150 seconds) Gametypes Recommended: Team Slayer Multi Flag Neutral Assault One Bomb One Flag Team King Team Oddball The Temple: Red Base: Blue Base: A few action shots for those that like them..... Hog Goes Boom! Under fire: Face off: Download "Elysium"
This looks really good! I'll def. download and try tommarro. I really like the way you have that killball sitting. The arches look like a hand grasping it. Really cool idea. I let you know how it plays after we try it.....
I really like the simplicity and intuitive nature of this map, from the screenshots, anyway. I really dig the aesthetics with the kill ball as well (this is probably the 1st map where Ive actually liked it). I'm gonna DL and get some action on here soon. I'll try and get back here with more comments afterwards. Keep up the good work. Sik, you never disappoint.
Cheers dude - one game of Multiflag on this and you'll be sold, I guarantee it! Either that or Neutral Assault for some seriously Epic moments ;o)
I agree with Lightsout, the design of this map seems very intuitive. Very Bungie-esque, really. I especially like your use of 45 degree angles. In many maps they seem forced, or tacked on to the right angles, but they seem natural here. One thing that jumps out to me from the screenshots: The scattered cover that's counter-clockwise from the bases seems overly random. It just... lacks cohesiveness. It would be nice if you unified that area aesthetically. I also like how the killball temple looks. From experience though, I know the killball can be loud and obnoxious. I wonder if it ruins the soundscape as much as I expect. I'll find out when I download this and give it a whirl. It really does look great, and I'm looking forward to getting a game on it.
Thanks, that's something I worked hard on to make sure it felt natural when playing. The map itself went through over 14 iterations before appearing as it is now. I know it's hard to believe, but every piece of cover has a purpose in that Battlefield - some to provide adequate cover when spawning, some for jumps to higher levels, others just to provide obstacles so the Hog can't dominate too much(it's there to be a power weapon after all!). I guess (or at least I hope) that when you play it, you'll see what I mean. I did consider that when I placed the Killball - thankfully, you can only just about hear it when you're fighting in the central temple, other than that, it's simply something nice to look at. Thanks for your comments dude, I always appreciate a bit of constructive criticism!
This map is simply amazing, bungie gave us sandbox so that we could give them maps like this, 10/10 the maps aesthetics and layout are truely epic. this should be featured...
Great work as ever Sik, who said you could only do niche maps! The gameplay on Elysium is nothing short of outstanding. I wasn't sold on the Sniper to start with, but it works so well, all the shots count when the flag is nearly home!
the map seems quite simple and so does the layout but the gameplay surprised me i actualy enjoyed playing this map the vehicles worked well on this map i helped for some easy flag captures but overall this map was well balenced
i enjoyed playing this map and the bases are pretty plain yet they work quite well. and the vehicles work out really well 5/10
Thank you for your comments....although you've left me somewhat perplexed - you say you liked it and it played well, yet you "scored" it 5/10? What earned such an average score out of interest? What could be improved in your opinion?
The map has a very good flow, it is obvious you considered gameplay when making this map, hope to see more maps like this in the future.
This video should give people a good overview of the map, and was made with Sik's blessing - Link to Youtube Video. I'm looking forward to giving Elysium a good hammering in customs tonight!
Nice work its nice and clean. The bases are pretty good but they work perfect. The temple looks sweet.nice hope to see another.
Are the bases working perfect a negative then? Appreciate all the comments guys - is there anything you would like to see improved?
eli el elysium I love how it plays in the end. I agree that the cover isn't so pretty but gameplay over good looks anytime. Saying that, I miss the big flower so I am building my own map with it as originally intended. But I'm very impressed on how quick it took you to build this and I look forward to play it lots more with you and the group! I don't think your map needs any changes. Perhaps you could flatten some minor bumps but it isn't really neccessary.
I really enjoyed seeing this map progress and when we were playtesting i realised how good an objective map this really was! It works well with a slayer gametype as well!! Vehicles can be used to devastating effect but yet they don't dominate the map - if you get what i mean?? Great map Sik and a pleasure to play ~PK
i think ur map looks really good, seems to be well made and i would imagine that alot of time and effort went into producing this. ill download and give it a spin later on
You'd be right. It took a lot of playtesting and time to get it made. Let us know what you think when you download it.
