Spoiler Download Pledge of Blood here Spoiler A big, big thankyou goes to Playerhata27 and Stickmanmeyhem for testing! Spoilers were used to make navigating easier, there's a whole load of screenies, without the spoilers it was a simply too long post. I wish there wasn't a 20-image limit. I had a lot more in store for you. And I wasn't intending on making a second post for them, sounds kinda selfish.. So, want to see more? Ask.
sweet map you have there, and you even have a floor plan, way to be an over achiever. I like the design and the layout you have there along with the rocket camper preventor idea you have created. The interlocking as well as the geomerging looks smooth and great so I believe you have did a great job in making such a map you have there!
Nice map. Everything looks smoothe and flows well. I think my favorite part is the anti camping thing you made. Sounds like a great idea. 5/5
Haha, yeah, it's the first map I posted, so I wanted it to be a great, perhaps oevr-the-top post. I sadly discovered there was a 20-image limit [EDIT:]Besides, I needed to give my post quite some.. Awesomeness to get it over, now with all the sandbox hawtness.[/EDIT] Anyhow, thanks for the positive comments!
We played on this yesterday. We had about 6 people in the party, and with that amount of people, the spawns were fail. Definitely a map made for small parties, that's for certain. The gameplay was alright, but it wasn't the best. The Aesthetics weren't all that wonderful either, but they worked. The fundamental design is pretty win though, I just wish it would have been executed a little better. The Spawning behind the Mancannon I felt was bad, because you basically had no choice but to take it. I think maybe in a v2 if you cleaned up the map, made things smoother, fixed the spawns, you would a pretty solid map. But as is, I think you should have done some more testing before posting. However, a v2 will give you the chance to redeem yourself for your haste.
NOTE: I haven't played it, so I'll only give constructive critisiscm on the aesthetics The forging itself is good quality, with solid merging and interlocks. However, some parts seem to be unsmooth, but because I haven't played the map, I can't say if it hurts gameplay or not. Another small thing: all the different colors from the items is a bit.. overwhelming. I don't think there's much you can do about it, but since other comments weren't complaining about it, I guess it's not really a problem. That's al I have to say, hope it helps you. Keep forgin'!
I placed about 95 (more, I believe) spawns, and only one behind the man cannon. Sadly, the spawning system often prefers having you spawn there. I could always place a crate you spawn on, so you can choose wether you go up or take the man cannon. There might be a v.2, but as long as I don't have Gold that ain't going to be released. Also, I hadn't quite focussed on aesthetics at all, which I stated on my testing thread here. I used their feedback to make some adjustments, but I couldn't participate in further testing, but that doesn't mean there hasn't been any - infact, they were kind enough to test it even though I couldn't show up. But thanks for the feedback and criticism, much appreciated Hmm, maybe I should do the V2 in Sandbox, then. Since everything there practically shares the same color palette - and having a map with nice aestethical quality is easier there.
For some reason this image just made me feel all tingly inside.. It is extremely aesthetically pleasing.. It looks like a great map for amall 4 person FFAs.. Spoiler
You need to upload images to, for example, Photobucket and then embed them by copying the IMG code and pasting it here. Spoiler Alright, it has come to this. A pictured tutorial on how to embed your Halo 3 screenshots of your map, in your post. I see too many people post maps without pictures, not knowing how, and then members try to explain. So I made this: Embedding Screenshots in your Map Thread Part 1: Taking a screenshot Sorry, no pictures for this section, don't have a capture card, but it is soo easy, I shouldn't need to explain, but I will. 1. After recently playing your map, go to "Theater Mode". 2. Select the match you played, and "Start Film". 3. Press "Y" after film has started, and pause the game (or not), and position your camera. 4. Click the camera symbol on the navigation bar. 5. Save it. Part 2: Getting your screenshot from Bungie.net 1. Open up your Internet Browser (I use Firefox) and go to our dearly beloved Bungie.net, and go to My Stats/Find a Player. 2. Then, go to the right of the screen, to "People Finder". Make sure that it is set to Halo 3, and type in your Xbox-Live Gamer tag. Then click "Search". 3. You should then being on your Gamer Tag profile. Click "Hi-Res screenshots". 4. Find the Screenshot you wish to embed, and click on it. Also, make sure pop-ups are allowed from Bungie.net. 5. A large version of the screenshot should come up in a separate window. Again, click the screenshot. 6. This should come up, asking you what program to open the screenshot with, or to save it to disk. For simplicities sake, just check off "Save to Disk" and the click "OK". 7. Depending what your preferences are, the picture could be saved to a number of places, if you are using Firefox, then this should come up. Click "Open" on the top one, which is more than likely the screenshot you are looking for. 8. An image viewing program displaying the screenshot should come up. Click the save option, in this case a floppy disk icon. 9.Save your image as a JPEG file, under a folder and name you can find later. Type the name in and click "Save". 10. Congrats, now you have your screenshot on your computer. Now onto: Part 3: Signing up for a Photobucket account, and uploading your screenshot to the internet. 1. Start by opening your internet browser, and going to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket. Why Photobucket? Cause I find that Imageshack is a pain and people seem to get nothing but thumbnail pictures from it, if they do try to embed their screenshots. Once there, click "Join Now" cause IT'S FREE! 2. Type in a username, and a password that you can remember. Then click "Next Step". 3. Now fill the form out, when you are done, click "I accept. Sign me up!" Note that none of that information is true to me. That is not my name, or birthdate, or anything. 4. Follow instructions from there. 5.Go to Login on Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket, type in your username and password, and then click "Login". 6. You should now be in your album. Find the section in the middle of the screen like the one below, and click "Choose Files", and make sure the size is set to 640x480. 7. An "Open File" window comes up. Now find your screenshot where you saved it, click on it, and then click "Open". Note that you can select more than one image before click "Open" by clicking your first image, and then (while holding down the SHIFT key) click on the other images you wish to add. 8. Give it time to save the screenshot on the internet. Click "Cancel" to stop uploading. 9. When it is done, this screen will come up. Give it a title and a description, or just skip that, and click "save and continue". 10. And now your screenshot is on the internet, ready to be embedded. Part 4: Embed your image in your post. 1. Go to your "my albums" on your photobucket page, which is located in the top navigation bar. Then, scroll down the page until you find your screenshot. 2. Click on the text in the space next to "IMG Code". This will automatically copy that link to your clipboard. 3. Go to post your Map Thread, and right click/Paste the IMG code (an image code is the direct link url of an image, in between [./img], but without the ".") [IMG]http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o46/onlykaproductions/embed6.jpg 4. Yay! Well, I hope this was helpful to those who had no idea how to embed their screenshots before. And those who find themselves telling newcomers that their Map Threads are not up to standards without pics, send them this way. Originally Posted by xX5w33ny70ddXx. For a larger image, click on the screenshot again, and use the image's URL in your post with the tags. Orignally posted by Lightsout225 Images from second spoiler removed because of the 20-image limit. Also, thanks!.. Although it wasn't really built to be aesthetically pleasing. And yeah, the map's not intended for huge amounts of people. I've played it 4 vs 4 and that barely worked. And for some reason, I can't un-Italic this text :/ EDIT: Lol, just saw your signature... Silly me. Well, I tried to help.
Such a fun map! I loved this. PS: You're welcome from Playerhata and me. The interlocking and overall layout promote well flowing, even combat. I give it a 5/5 EDIT: Hahahahaha I'm in all but 2 screenshots!
Thanks for the good comments And, yeah, now that I look at them, you are. Just about all the screenshots I couldn't include don't sport you. Hey, I used the screenshots with the most epic action, and seemingly you always knew how to be there. Yeah - it is. Just try not to go over 3 vs 3. Testing went with 4 vs 4, and although the testers say played fairly well, I personally think it was a bit crowded. Also, Team Slayer is in the list of suggested gametypes in the OP, so yeah, you bet I am extremely sorry for the bump, but I'm stuck with my next map, so I figured I'd start on a V2 of Pledge of Blood. I need more constructive feedback, though. I have some, but far from enough. I need precise suggestions and comments on things that are in dire need of change. If you could 'test' this map, and see if things, such as weapons and equipment placement, are or at least feels unbalanced, please let me know through PM or via a post in this thread. Second option preferred. Also, would you prefer for the next version to be on Sandbox, or still on colourfull little foundry here? Once more, sorry for the bump. If I just editted my last post, this wouldn't get noticed.
Yes, I am epicness in myself so even if you just had a screenshot of me just standing in your map it would be epic
Allright, I'll be on the lookout. If you could PM me, that might be easier - then again, if you post in the thread, I'll have all the feedback stacked together.
Ok, that's one of the nicest threads I have seen, I'm down loading with in the next hour and will update this post with my reply to the map + advice for a second version. But as far as the thread is concerned, I have seen few that compete to it. Any map with a floor plan has to be well thought out, also from the pics the geo-merging looks great.
Now I haven't played this map but their seem to be a few bumps between some of your geomerged boxes. Also, mancannons aren't always the best idea but you seemed to have used them decently. I'll say 4/5 which is pretty good. I can tell you spent a lot of time on it.
Thanks! Alright, I'll look forward to an edit or a PM. I know - although the bumps aren't really noticable unless if you try to notice. I've also noticed that the bumps are more severe when walking over them slowly - so you're even less likely to encounter any major bumps during actual gameplay. (that's a lot of notices) But in V2, I'm going to try to streamline the entire experience. Any more feedback, people? I've made a small list of things that'll change in v2, in the 'about' spoiler-section of Pledge of Blood: Here-o. But I think we can make that list longer, no? The more precise data you give me, the better v2 will be! ~Spirit
When you sent me that pm about something or another, Idk, for some reason I thought you started this like a week ago lol. Thats why I was like (I cant believe you finished this already 0.o)
Ah-hah! No, what I'm going to start soon is the second version. For which I still would enjoy some feedback, people. But for now, I'm going to make a Halo CE version of this map. And since I can't get the HEK to work, I'm going to use gmax - which is a very confusing program to work with. I can't even use the camera controls to look around the objects I create! (frustration!) EDIT: Turns out I'm still going to need the HEK. *sigh* Maybe no map-making for me.
