Paintball Arena Made by IxSPAWNxKILL _______________________________________ The Map: Many people love halo and many people also love paintball. So what i did was combine Halo 3 and Paintball all into 1 with Halo 3's new Mythic Map, Sandbox, into what I call Paintball Arena.(I know it's not a very creative name.) 4 people spawn on each side with needlers and must make their way to the other side and return with the opposing sides flag without dying. You have unlimited lives which makes it even more difficult. The first to 5 in a 15 minute match wins the game. The map is completely symmetrical and small, yet very competitive. I thought of that but when i saw the length i thought it was way to big so i downsized a bit. I might make a sequel of this map and make it much larger.
Well, I'm not a huge fan of paintball maps, but this one looks pretty good. The size is just right, because the crypt is just too big to have a paintball map on. It does look like someone could get out easily by climbing on the pillars on the side, but I can't really tell from the one picture.
Well, real life physics do somewhat apply. Even though you can jump over some of the smaller 'bunkers' you can't jump nearly high enough to get outside the map.
If there were more bits of cover and it was a little longer, it would look more like a real paintball field.
I will definitely consider this in my sequel when i make the actual arena bigger. With the size it is now there wasn't much i could add with out being able to put shots all around the map.
You might want to consider putting this in the Sky Bubble too, it would give an aesthetic feel to it, and make it so that players spawn with different weapons like the spiker or SMG. Any weapon that is meant for close quarters, but isn't too powerful, like the shotgun, mauler, plasma rifle, assault rifle, energy sword, gravity hammer, etc. Also, design the map so that it works with team slayer, assault, one flag, and free-for-all (if possible)
Not the first paintballing game to come to halo, and it is a little small. perhaps needlers are a bad idea for a paitball gun as they home in on people? Oh and the map is also escapable. Oh and btw how does having infinite lives make it harder?
Unfortunately you can't have a spiker as the starting weapon. And as for SMG its actually very effective at mid-close range with instant kill on so thats why i never even considered that. If i made it in the sky bubble, i would have to make a floor which probably make it bumpy, just not give the map a smooth feeling. Were you playing with the set gametype? Without it you can easily escape. I also realize its not the first, but is one of the first on sandbox. I wanted to use Plasma Rifles but bungie took that out as an option I just thought needlers were ideal because they were colorful like paintballs, they shoot at a fast rate and the needles sticking out of the top of the gun are like a hopper. Plus you can see them as they travel. In normal paintball if your shot your usually out unless you "wipe the paint." If you have unlimited live then it makes it harder by allowing you to spawn and stop who ever took your flag, making the game last longer. Plus if you just eliminate the other team you get no points. ________________________________________________ See people i think of things and i test them before i post a map.
This looks like a pretty cool map. I'm going to give it a shot later on. And I love paintballing. I literally go every weekend, and never gets bored!
I think if you do make another version of this map, that you should make the wall doouble the height, just to make sure people don't escape the map. Other than that I would add more cover and it would be a great map. Nice job. 4/5
This is way to tiny and way to tiny to get out of the map, somebody could just jump on somebodys head. Make it bigger and make it so if your making walls, make it so they cant get out! 3/10
Thank you for alerting me you could get out of the map. I was not aware of this. I assumed since the jump height so low it would be impossible, but with double jumping it is possible although the persons attempting this would most likely get shot trying.
by the time you coordinate to double jump you have already been shot and are dead. it makes no sense in gameplay to try and leave the map. so i don't think that should be the top priority on a remake. the map does need to be longer though. if it were to get much wider it would turn away from a paintball map and into just another map with insta-kill turned on.
I am currently working on a remake. I'd say its about 30% done. I have made id the full length of the crypt and double stacked almost everything just in case some loser wants to try double jumping out ^_^ It also has a new layout with more cover. Im not good at geomerging at all so its pretty basic.
I strongly recommend a plasma pistol on instant kill it feels exactly like a semi-auto gun and the bullets are somewhat slow just a suggestion, i havent tested this, but try adding way more bunkers and giving 1 life per round (those two suggestions go together) a kill is 1 point and a flag cap is whatever is enough points to motivate someone to go for the flag
aww no snake =p jk i like the looks of it, maybe a little more intricate middle piece though like one of those big donuts with the half walls that zag idk if you've ever seen one we have one on our hyperball course its fun.
there is no way to change the scoring options in CTF. As i said before if i gave them 1 life and they eliminated the entire team they would get no points
